Even if he is a Kraut!

See how it works ? :D NMH Title: The Legend to call it a day Post by: Northern Red on Sunday, September 10, 2006, 16:58:46 One of the meanest cheats in F1 will be gone. The other of course was Senna. Many of the F1 drivers are just too nice now, you need a mean streak. The only thing bad about Schumy was he was always too cowardly to admit it. He still denies ramming Villeneuve years ago.
Senna was more up front. Before a championship decider a few years back, Senna led Prost by 1 point, and they were 1st and 2nd on the grid. Prost went up to Senna said "Good Luck for the race" and Senna said "I don't need luck, I'm going to knock you off at the first corner, the championship is mine". And promptly rammed them both into the gravel at the first corner to win the championship. But everyone loved him, cos he admitted it. Schumy is a coward who denies cheating. Rant Over, we'll miss a great driver. He's lacked quality rivals, but he's still a great driver and even when the Ferrari was slightly poo, he was still up there. But he's just a driver and next year will be fun without him. Its not the last we'll see of him... the Ferrari press release says: "Michael Schumacher's future role within the team is yet to be defined." Jean Todt is out of contract and I think Schumy wants to run the team. Title: The Legend to call it a day Post by: my-velocity on Sunday, September 10, 2006, 17:00:17 I hope he wins the Championship before he retires. Great driver.
Title: The Legend to call it a day Post by: flammableBen on Sunday, September 10, 2006, 18:22:14 Difference between cheating and using the rules to your advantage. To be fair F1 is just a bit shit anyway, and if they have to change the rules to stop a driver/team winning all the time then it just shows how flawed it is.

Yeah, the difference being delibeartely causing a potentially fatal accident is cheating. Title: The Legend to call it a day Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Sunday, September 10, 2006, 18:44:16 About time. Fuck off you fucking cunt.
Title: The Legend to call it a day Post by: Leggett on Sunday, September 10, 2006, 18:45:08 no great loss in my books, i wonder what he's gonna do to alonso to win the championship? (or get A.N Other 2nd rate driver team-mate to do, cant remember who've they've got this year, but he's not much good, much like barrichello... or irvine... or herbert... noticing a pattern?)
the reason renault arent as fast in the 2nd half of the season, they've had some aerodynamic aides out-ruled... however ferrari's brake cooling ducts/changable aerodynamic thingamajigs (or whatever it is thats in question, i dont pay that much attention any more) , i bet they dont get out-ruled, and if they do, it'll be after this season... raikonen will walk it next year at ferrari. fact. Title: The Legend to call it a day Post by: walrus on Sunday, September 10, 2006, 19:06:24 Schuey is a bit of a cunt, but you cannot knock his ability.
He won the Championship in 1995 with Benneton when they weren't the strongest team, and when he joined Ferrari they were far from Championship contenders. He has helped build the team around him... By far the greatest F1 driver of the modern era. They say wet races help demonstrate a true racing driver's ability. Regenmeister anyone?! Title: The Legend to call it a day Post by: Northern Red on Sunday, September 10, 2006, 19:14:50 Raikkonen will be Champion in 2007 - Easy.
Probably Jenson Button's best chance will be next year as well. Alonso's in the poo-ey McLaren. Renault a good car, but poo-ey drivers. Its now or never to quote Elvis. Title: The Legend to call it a day Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, September 10, 2006, 19:22:58 Definitely the best driver in the modern era of formula 1 but to say Bennetton weren't the steongest team in 94/95 is wrong, as they were so fast they were accused of cheating.
Ferrari were shit when he joined them, but the car in 2000 onwards has been up there with the best. As much as he is a brilliant driver, the cars have made it possible to win the titles. I loved the fact that he so clearly cheated Villeneuve, but it didn't work 8) Title: The Legend to call it a day Post by: pumbaa on Sunday, September 10, 2006, 20:21:31 Quite possibly the worst kept secret has finally leaked out then. I have never liked Schumacher for so many reasons, much like I disliked Senna in his prime. However respect the man for what he has achieved over the past 14 years or so - records are made to be broken but I can't see any other driver winning over 25 GPs in their career let alone 90.
I remember like yesterday the incident at Spa '98 when Schumi drove up DC's arse in the wet right in front of me. That was the only moment in my life when I feared I might die - shouting and cheering surrounded by 20000 Germans was, in hindsight, not the best move I've ever made..... Title: The Legend to call it a day Post by: Northern Red on Monday, September 11, 2006, 14:07:00 Boooooo. In related news, Dan Wheldon was just pipped to the IRL title in the US. Would've been the first English back to back winner.
Still a good season, bring him to F1 someone.... Linkage: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/5333334.stm |
