Any of u lot listen to it on 5 live. Listening now on internet and spoony just had jason euell on the show and he confimed that he is joining boro from charlton. I have been listening to 606 for 3 yrs now and it is brilliant. A lot swindon fans have been on this season.

Without wishing to dampen your enthusiasm.....606 has been shit for some years....Spoony despite having a good name, knows more about golf than lower league football, being a classic example of the nouveau fan much reviled by Gazza's Fat Mate..

  There was a time when it was started by Danny Baker circa 91 , when it was a surreal celebration of proper fans culture....Danny Kelly kept that going for a bit, but then the powers that be got scared and placed the dead hand of David Mellor on it.

Baker was quality.

On the Ince thing I think Spoonface and he are pals.

 Baker believed that the confrontational approach was best, and always said so.....so he was pro standing, pro getting into games pissed and pro the odd ruck on and off the pitch.

 Spoony may well be a decent DJ, he was up the Studio relatively recently...I diin't go.

The only thing David Mellor was any good at on 606 was patronising any woman who dared ring up with an opinion on football.  I remember liking the show alot when Kelly did it, never listened to Danny Baker unfortunately.

Spoony I think is a bit of a plum really, when it comes to talking football.

 Mellor was a master of patronising.....just it was more obvious when he talked to women.

  They should have given it to Michael Foot ....who would regularly turn up on the terraces at Plymuff games in his donkey jacket, with his walking stick.

Spoony is a worse dj than pundit and that's saying something.

Cracking program and had just the right balance of drunks calling in and footy.

The thing I always remember about Mellor's 606 was when a female would ring up

"Oooooh a laaady, who likes football, now tell me what is it you like about the beautiful game?" he would always ask in a very patronising way.

Danny Baker was class, can never be repeated, the thing about Baker was he wasn't scared of letting the caller have a good few minutes to get his point across, nowadays the caller seems to get about 10 seconds before getting interrupted.

Totally agree with Reg - S606 is good in that it's better than talksport - but Spoony as a presenter, and chappers, are nothing on Baker and Kelly. Nothing at all. Spoony knows a bit about the prem, doesn;t everyone that reads the papers, looks online, watches sky sports news and reads FourFourTwo. A good presenter knows a lot about all the leagues and can identify with every fan...

Difference is, a caller from, say swindon, calls spoony., He'll ask: 'so what's going at at Swindon at the moment". With Baker and Kelly it would be, "So Wisey's doing a good job and isn;t it great Roberts has turned his lfie around".

I've never listened to TalkSport... A part of my football upbringing is coming home from a match with 5 Live on the radio.

danny baker was ace it was essential listening, one of the best suggestions was penalty shootouts, all the crowd would get a raffle ticket and the there would be a tombola to see who would take the kicks and be in goal.
he suggested that the disabled section should be included and asked the question would you have the heart to stick the ball in the corner if the goalie was a spazzer in a wheellchair.

I hate 5 live on a long drive. Bleedin' news breaks every 30 minutes :( It' what caused me to switch to the dark side (Talksport).

Spoony is a typical southern Liverpool fan. Thinks himself better than a southern Man Yoo fan, but really really isnt, just comes from a different era.  

Danny Baker was too loud for me. Id enjoy the 1st 10 minutes of his show, but usually he would let the fan on the phone talk for 5 seconds, then he would talk for 5 minutes. Just got annoying. Kelly was much better, proper football but a really good host as well. I didnt mind Littlejohn, but he was a bit London/Spurs centric.

Best thing about Mellor was the Chelsea fans getting cut off for calling him a twat. Spoony hasnt got a clue, and is on que cards from his team half the time. And whatshisface Chappers just has this massive chip on his shoulder about being a United fan, im proper Manchester honest. Fuck off.

I cant really remmember Baker on the saturday show. I listened to his wednesday night show a lot, that was when he got sacked. He was slagging off refs (as usual) and this ref phoned in to put his case across. Baker just shouted him down 'this is a fans phone in! I dont want scummy poncy refs on my show!'. Which was quite good. Whisper it quietly, but I enjoyed Dominic Diamond's (who replaced him) shows more! Scummer and Celtic, what a combo!, but he had a bit of wit,and I never heard him have a go at us.

I can't stand 606,there are too many premiershit fans moaning on it for my liking :evil: I listened to it for the first time in ages coming back from Wrexham,there were so many bleeding Arsenal fans droaning on you'd think they were going down!I'm like get a fucking grip,the seasons only a few games old :x Bet there loads on there last night saying how there're going to win the fucking league now :-))(
