Title: September Fixtures Post by: Reg Smeeton on Monday, August 28, 2006, 19:14:19 Moved this post here as its relevant to the debate....
....this is what the Rochdale league top 3 looked like after 5 games last season. 1st Notts (finished 21st) 2nd Rochdale (finished 14th) 3rd Barnet (finished 18th Notts went into the final game with a chance of the Conference, Barnet weren't far off. Point being....I suspect so far we may have played some of the poorer teams in this Div......so feet on the ground until we've seen what the likes of MKD, Walsall and Posh are about. If we come through this looking good, then it will be time to start getting excited Title: September Fixtures Post by: Leggett on Monday, August 28, 2006, 19:16:24 should make all the home games, and probably wrexham and notts county.
tough games, but i'm hopefull... Chester and Wrexham will be very tricky - infact they're all tough ones - What a difficult month :| Title: September Fixtures Post by: STFC4LIFE on Monday, August 28, 2006, 19:23:45 Why do you call it 'The Rochdale League'?

Title: September Fixtures Post by: pauld on Monday, August 28, 2006, 22:56:24 We're screwed in Sept anyway - Wise will get MoTM, and then that's it for the month. Title: September Fixtures Post by: pauld on Monday, August 28, 2006, 23:01:59 That's just shit media pundits who like to buy into the whole "There is only one league in British football" because then they don't have to know or care anything about the other 72 sides. Oh, and the armchair divvies whose entire view of football is shaped by such pundits as they've never been to a game in their lives, obviously

Its not strictly true, because you'll get stuff like Chelsea are going for " a remarkable 3 titles in a row, only achieved by ManUre , Liverpool ....(and cough splutter whisper it quietly) Huddersfield Town. Title: September Fixtures Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, 11:02:29 I think it is fair to say that we will drop points in September and maybe (shock horror) lose a game.
If we are still in the top three by the end of the month (and I think we will be) then we will be up there for the long haul. Interestingly enough (well, interesting in a boring kind of way) when we won the Div 4 Championship in 86-86, we lost at home to Wrexham on the opening day of the season (0-1) . In 95-96 when we won the Div 2 Championship the first team to beat us was Wrexham (3-4). On the 9th September we are away to.............yes, that's right...........Boston.......... D'oh! No I mean Wrexham. I do think that could be where we drop our first points this time round as well. I believe we will make it 6 wins out of 6 at Chester and follow that up with a draw at Wrexham. Title: September Fixtures Post by: STFC4LIFE on Saturday, September 2, 2006, 16:09:14 Ohhhhhhhhhh :D

What are the chances of getting from Birmingham to Aberystwyth (3 hours, sheep permitting) to drop my daughter at university, set up her room, then get back to Nottingham for kick-off? Slim I would say - not a word often associated with me  Title: September Fixtures Post by: sonic youth on Saturday, September 2, 2006, 20:07:41 it depends if you drive like a mentalist 8)
what's she studying at aberystwyth? it's my second choice, sounds like a good uni and a lovely place. shame it's in wales though... Title: September Fixtures Post by: OOH! Wales in general is very inbred and strange in my personal experience. I went to Aberthingy once, it was a bit like the land that time forgot. They have a strange cable car kind of thing and a 'camera obscura' which is equally strange. Nice scenery though 8) And lots of sheep. And lots of sheepshagers I would imagine. Title: September Fixtures Post by: reeves4england on Saturday, September 2, 2006, 21:30:44 I'm looking at Swansea at the moment. About as Welsh as I am prepared to go...ie full of English students!
Back to the point, I think we will lose two games in September and people will think we have lost it and will get relegated. October will see us back on top! Title: September Fixtures Post by: magnum150 on Saturday, September 2, 2006, 22:22:52 This run if games against the tougher teams in this league is where Ince could prove invaluable.
Title: September Fixtures Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Saturday, September 2, 2006, 22:42:40 This is not something that could possibly be proved or disproved, but I feel that Ince, in the forthcoming fixtures, could be the difference between W2 D2 L2 and W4 D1 L1.
The latter being with Ince playing of course. Just my gut feeling of course  Title: September Fixtures Post by: Arriba on Saturday, September 2, 2006, 22:46:06 i cannot honestly seeing us drop points.its inevitable but when?? the later the better
Title: September Fixtures Post by: reeves4england on Saturday, September 2, 2006, 22:51:31 I agree. It is hard to imagine this team losing to anybody!
I think Franchise and Wycombe will be the tough tests, maybe Posh but I'm not convinced Title: September Fixtures Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Saturday, September 2, 2006, 23:07:06 I know what you mean, we seem to be able to just play averagely well and win.
But we will meet some one when they are having a good day and we are having an off day. It will happen. We only lost 4 games when we won Div 3 in 95/96 and I can still remember them quite clearly now: Wrexham (A) 3-4. We played ok but were sloppy at the back, they were up for it and played quite well. We threw away a 3-2 lead. Shrewsbury (H) 0-1. We played ok, missed a load of chances. They had a couple of chances and scored one on the break. The longer the game went on the more ragged we became. York (A) 0-2. Shaun Taylor missed the game through injury, Eddy Murray stepped in and clearly was out of his depth. We lost a game we would have won at a canter at full strength. Oxford (A) 0-3. With McMahon out injured we just lost our way. Luckily he managed to steady the ship by bringing in David Preece on loan who was the perfect replacement for McMahon and the rest of the season was a bit of a stroll in the park. Four defeats, four very different reasons for those defeats. That, as they say, is association football.
