Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: DV on Monday, August 28, 2006, 13:54:47 ...why arent we playing today?
Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: sonic youth on Monday, August 28, 2006, 14:01:54 cos we played saturday
Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: DV on Monday, August 28, 2006, 14:03:10 and...in the past we've played Saturday then again on Bank Holiday Monday...
Last season wasnt it Yeovil at home on the Saturday, the Tranmere away on the Monday? Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: sonic youth on Monday, August 28, 2006, 14:13:05 so it was.
don't think anybody that played saturday are playing today though, except non-league teams (OXFORD!) i think maybe it was cos the season finished earlier last year? Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: DV on Monday, August 28, 2006, 14:17:37 that cant be it, because it wasnt just last season we played on the August bank holiday monday. Its been every season for as far back as I can remember. I remember going to Bournemouth on bank holiday Monday. We drew 2-2 wore the one off white shirt and the Jungle book video fell onto my knee on the coach and it fooking hurt!!
So why not this year then...seems odd.... Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: sonic youth on Monday, August 28, 2006, 14:23:16 hmmm you're right, i remember bournemouth but i thought that might have been because of the european championships meaning the season had to finish a bit earlier.
we went to warsaw in 04/05, went 2-0 up and lost 3-2, another kingy special. Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: DV on Monday, August 28, 2006, 14:29:43 I was in Newquay that weekend, I remember getting the text updates
So, in conclusion we usually play august bank holiday monday...but this season we arent. Have they changed the dates of the Carling Cup first round maybe?? Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, August 28, 2006, 16:25:11 Because we aren't scheduled to play today
Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: ibelieveinmrreeves on Monday, August 28, 2006, 18:44:30 Well we've got 7 games in September, possibly to make up for not playing today.
Which still doesn't explain why there weren't any bank holiday fixtures I realise. I just wanted to join in. Maybe they forgot it was a bank holiday? Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Monday, August 28, 2006, 18:50:25 usually there is a game on Bank Holiday in August. don't know why there isn't this year
Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: DV on Monday, August 28, 2006, 20:39:27 Ummm unexplained mystery then.... :?
Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: spacey on Monday, August 28, 2006, 20:49:55 We couldn't play today because the dog ate my shoe.

Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: RobertT on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, 09:08:56 was it anything to do with the International games?
Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: janaage on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, 09:12:10 Yes I think it is because of the internationals. Fucking shit that there was no game yesterday (although I would have missed it - as I went to the twenty20 match).
Stop messing with our traditions UEFA!! Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: RobertT on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, 09:17:00 Thought it might be, I'm sure International week has moved earlier, normally being about the 2nd week in September.
Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: pauld on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, 09:19:01 Nah, when we beat Germany 5-1 that was September 1st (same day as we beat Colchester 1-0, Fatty Ruddock got his debut goal for us) and that was five years ago. Christ was that five years ago? I'm getting old.
Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: pauld on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, 09:24:22 Speaking of which, how come the Slave Traders didn't have a game at the weekend? Was looking forward to seeing them seal their place in the bottom four
Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: janaage on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, 09:25:44 Playing tonight against Northampton. Come on you cobblers!!!
City are only second bottom because of Rotherham's 10 point deduction. Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: pauld on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, 09:39:00 Cheers Jan.
Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: RobertT on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, 09:47:33 Umm, wheres those straws.....maybe the bank holiday falls later this year?

A strange one that unless something was happening in Northampton at the weekend?!City are only second bottom because of Rotherham's 10 point deduction. Nice to see City doing so well, and also good to see the fans thoroughly behind the team and manager as ever (not :D ) Title: Maybe this is a stupid question but... Post by: DerbyRed on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, 13:16:46 Its being played tonight because its on Sky!
Chance to watch Gorman stick one over the bastards! 8) Just need Rotherham to hurry up and get into positive numbers so they can overtake them!! |
