i agree with you both really.on the pitch we are good without him BUT its a long hard season so he would be called upon at some point..also someone with that much knowledge of the game will no doubt be a asset to this club

What happens if Evans gets injured. We're back with Pook. Then if he gets injured....

Also it's likely someone will get suspended at some stage. The more options we have the better. But if we don't have them options c'est la vie

i think the best thing so far is that we've won 5 games without every really getting out of 3rd gear

i disagree,i dont think we will play much better than we have.

i think we can play better.we seem to be able to control the game how we want.not that i want us to but it will be interesting to see how long it takes us before we lose

the fitness of the players is the biggest difference on last year.i think martin allen at Franchise is working in a similar way to wise.i think we will be the top two come may

i am under no illusion that we're gunna win every game, but i do think that we're a damn sight better than most of what we've played and will play. and i do think that we've got more if we need it. we've got new players, new management team and i think we can see how we've gotten better and how the team's evolving even in these three home league games

we've dominated teams - at home anyway - without ever really having to really go for it hell for leather, when our backs are against the wall i'm fairly confident we've got plenty in reserve to really go for it.

Stockport had much the better of the game after Pook came on.

I think we eached somewhere near our best against Brentford to be honest, after we recovered from tha dreadful start. And that was without some of the better players playing!

We are capable of winning every game this season but I know as well as anybody that it won't happen. Wycombe, Franchise, Posh and a couple of others will put up big fights against us this year and if we can come through those games with atleast a point from each we could be looking down on others come Christmas and hopefully May!

A lot of people are worrying that if Ince doesnt sign and Evans or Weston get injured/suspended, we then have to put up with Pook...Thats not entirely the case as dont forget, we do have Whalley and Gurney on their way back from injury...We also have Holgate to play in that role and maybe even CCP....
Granted, Gurney has had a set back, but Whalley is nearing full recovery/fitness.
Even Wise or Poyet can play in the centre of midfield, if needed. We've got more than enough cover for that role.

no its not though.only yesterday wise said he didnt want to play players out of position so on that basis we only have whalley to come back.i think ashan is about a year away yet.poyet wont play and the fact wise wants ince suggests wise is desperate to not play himself

Great move by Wise to recognise Evans getting tired just as Stockport loaded midfield to have a last push for the game. Pook was sent on with a purpose and did his job in holding them.

It was a good move, but only if we had someone handy to bring on. I was surprised Ashan wasn't on the bench ahead of Poo.

Holgate had played 120 minutes during the week mind...

So had Evans... and Nicho.

aye, but they are used to playing football week in week out, and sometimes twice a week.

Holgate isnt, because its very rarely, if ever....hes played back to back 90 minutes and certainly hasnt done this season

Spot on fella. When you consider we're doing this at the moment without Wise, Gus and Incey, it makes you drool over our relatively enviable squad depth. Wasn't it great to lose Vincent, Monkey and Caton and still be able to deploy Brown and Nicho. Like for like subs! Previous seasons would have seen us pushing square pegs into round holes. Just think, if Evo drops our through injury or suspension, we've got a former ECWC, FA Cup and Chelsea captain ready to fill his boots... and if he too gets crocked, we could have a former Man U, Liverpool, Inter Milan and England captain to do the business! If nothing else it'd great entertainment. The stuff of dreams (or of STFC 13 years ago) and I'm loving every minute of it!! Here's to it lasting. :beers:

Yeah i see your point, but Poyet has been given a number for a reason and i was simply stating that if the worse did come to the worst and our main centre mids were injured, we could still call upon Poyet instead of Pook....

The doc examined him after the game and said his sack was empty and he had a bad case of mumps. :wink:
