Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: Dazzza on Monday, August 14, 2006, 16:52:35 Scored two and created two against Darlington this week for Boston and looks to be heading straight for the Darlington side to face us this week!
http://www.thisisthenortheast.co.uk/display.var.877170.0.joachim_to_sign.php Despite knocking on a bit I'd imagine he'll prove a sturdy test for Ifil and Williams at this level and should give us a good measure how good we are at the back. We know from recent encounters with Walsall and Bosston that JJ is more than a handful for our defence....just goes to show that Darlo are the big club in this league....don't think we could shell out six figures. Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: blinkpip on Monday, August 14, 2006, 16:59:04 Didn't he also score against us in the 1994 play off final?
Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: RobertT on Monday, August 14, 2006, 17:02:26 On the plus side Darlington have just lost their best central defender, making it both their 1st choice ones having left since last season and not replaced as yet.
I'm using Darlington fans terms by the way as I have no idea if they were any good or not, and even though one has gone to Hibs, you just never know. Could it be a high scoring game? Yep....don't think JJ likes us very much after that and red card at the CG earlier that season. He certainly always seems well up for it when we turn up. Indeed you never do know.....what for example possessed Strachan to shell 1.5 mill on Virgo? Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: RobertT on Monday, August 14, 2006, 17:08:59 The same kind of thinking that made him take Telfer i presume - the he's average in the English game, so he's good enough for the Scottish Prem thinking - generally seems to work as well.

Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: Stef Troll on Monday, August 14, 2006, 18:30:09 Hes just the kind of striker Town need. A seasoned campaigner who knows how to hit the back of the net at this level. Hoping he doesnt play on Saturday, but if he does, then cest la vie
Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: Northern Red on Monday, August 14, 2006, 19:01:25 Joachim ripped us apart last season.
FA Cup first round replay: Boston 4 - 1 Swindon, Joachim scored 2 in the first half. Back line of Jenkins, Seano, Jerel and Nicho couldn't cope. Seeing the highlights of Boston v Darlington today, Joachim is a nightmare to play against - he's better than League 2. Best man mark him with Ifil, and play a back two of Williams and Nicho. Go for the draw. :| Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: sonic youth on Monday, August 14, 2006, 20:23:56 Quote from: "StefPol" Hes just the kind of striker Town need. Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: Tails on Monday, August 14, 2006, 22:13:13 Our defence will need to be on the very top of its game to deal with Darlingtons strikeforce.
I can't see us getting anything up there. Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: yeo on Monday, August 14, 2006, 22:16:17 typical negative Tails post.
Personally i dont think we will ever lose again. Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, August 14, 2006, 22:19:59 Quote from: "StefPol" Hes just the kind of striker Town need. You abslutely love it dont you- god knows what you will have to say if we do ever have loads of money to splash. Mind you Power did say that there was cash if needed................... Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: RobertT on Tuesday, August 15, 2006, 09:20:25 Joachim wanted to stay in the north and originally said he didn't even want to leave Boston. Darlington have lost both their first choice central defenders, Sat being the first game they played without either.
I would guess that Wise is happy with the current batch of forwards and would wait until Jan to make any new decisions on that front. Especially as we are off to a flyer in points terms. Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: Piemonte on Tuesday, August 15, 2006, 09:59:56 I think some of you need to get a grip here. This is Julian Joachim we are talking about not Thierry Henry.
Hes not that great (whoa, he scored past us last season, he must be fucking brilliant what with our outstanding defensive organisation then) and if Darlo want to spend 6 figure sums on 30 year old strikers with their best years behind them then good luck to them. Rant over. Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, August 15, 2006, 10:07:13 Quote from: "Piemonte" I think some of you need to get a grip here. Don't think anyone is going OTT here, the evidence is, JJ seems to enjoy playing against us, appears to be in good form...is going to the wealtihiest club, who scored 4 in their first home game, whilst we got out of jail somewhat at their neighbours.....as an indicator, a point here would be excellent.... Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: ron dodgers on Tuesday, August 15, 2006, 10:07:40 he's not that brilliant - I'm sure the new improved Ifil can cope and we can score goals (except for penalties)

They may have scored 4 in the their first game however conceeded 4 recently also. Very hard to judge at this stage. All that shows to me is inconsistency. When did he last play in the premiership? 6/7/8 years ago???
He failed at Leeds, and dropped down to the basement division by the time he was 30 for some sort of reason Dont get me wrong, hes a decent player at L2 level, but I see no reason for us to be totally shit scared of him. and hes a cunt Title: Joachim to Darlington Post by: Piemonte on Tuesday, August 15, 2006, 10:34:25 He scored 16 goals in 48 appearances last season. wow

When CC throttled him Homer on Bart style at the CG, and he thrashed out gay little punches and got sent off, had to be one of the funnier moments ever.
