Title: twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to gooooo
Post by: sonic youth on Friday, August 11, 2006, 14:02:33
i wanna be sedated!

i've not felt this excited about matchday for a very long time, certainly not last season. tuesday night i was a ball of tension before kick-off, a mixture of excitement and nervous tension - i felt like a kid.

it only sank in for the first time on tuesday night that dennis wise and gus poyet are at the club.

i saw gus stood in the dugout and i had a moment of clarity, everything made sense and god told me to repent for my sins. so i ignored it and applauded the team as they ran out.

i caught a few minutes of 'premiership years' on sky sports the other afternoon whilst flicking through, i saw gus score a goal for chelsea. it was a brilliant feeling.

i'm going to be cheeky tomorrow and have a wander around "behind the scenes" just to see how different it feels in comparison to last year.

I must admit, watching the duo discuss tactics on the side as opposed to having whistling and mad arm waving was nice. I watched wisey and gus talk on and off for about 5 mins before brownlie came on - so they have to take some credit for that last minute winner...

It is great to feel excited before games again.  For me, the moment I saw the players out on the pitch at 5pm on Tuesday having a training session I decided to forget all thoughts of realism and go with the positivity feeling full blown.

I'm getting my second Town fix in 5 days tomorrow, which is a novelty for moi as I live in Swansea and don't get up as often as I'd like ('get up' to Swindon that is, not the filth YOU were thinking of, I have no issues in that department).

I know we haven't played that great so far, but I've seen glimpses of some lovely football, and I think sooner or later its all gonna faal into place, and when it does, watch out.

Thinking about how different it is this season, I was unable to identify any single thing which is worse this season than last, most things are better already, although there is more to come. Examples are fitness, training, good replacement players without fees, atmosphere, crowds,  players in their proper positions and knowing their jobs, the revamped Board, and of course there is Wise doing all the right things,, Poyet, and some money for A.N. Other at some point if needed. It's good to be excited again, the hope is shining through, but with feet on ground and patience as well for when a sticky patch occurs.  8)
