Title: Milk Cup Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, 14:02:05 Looking good for the youngsters in Northern Ireland.
Hot off the back of an 8-0 drubbing of San Francisco yesterday they’ve just beaten Co Armagh this afternoon 3-1 to progress into the latter stages of the tournament. Title: Milk Cup Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, 22:10:38 Maccabi Haifa tomorrow 8)
Title: Milk Cup Post by: Bedford Red on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, 22:11:34 It's good news.
Who was it in the Milk cup for us a few yrs ago who equalled or beat the goals record? Or I am dreaming that up! SHAUN TAYLOR on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, 22:16:23 We always seem to have quite good youth teams at various levels but seem unable to follow that development through to 1st XI level. Why not? A question perhaps for the fans' forum that Dennis seems quite keen on having. If David Tuttle is involved, perhaps he would like to field that one.
Title: Milk Cup Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, 22:27:43 I think one of the most rational things I ever her King say was when he spoke at a fans forum about the youth set-up after being asked about young Draycott’s prolific exploits at youth level.
Something along the lines of “the step up between youth and reserve team football is huge the step-up to first team football is colossal, young grasshopper.” I think the main problem and an ever increasing symptom of the game today is larger clubs poaching players at younger and younger levels nowadays. Add to that changes in the youth team set-up nearly every season for quite some time now and there’s no surprises that we haven’t really been churning them out left right and centre. That’s before you even get onto resources and cut-backs in the budget. I’m sure you actually put together a fairly decent side out of poached and released Town players still playing. Title: Milk Cup Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, 22:47:48 It's difficult to get carried away with youth players. However good they seem to be I always think of Alan Young, or as I like to call him the towel. Whenever he was subbed on it always seemed like we were thowing the Alan Young in.
Title: Milk Cup Post by: janaage on Wednesday, August 2, 2006, 13:37:36 We should be given a bye in the next round, as those Israeli warlords should have been thrown out of the competition. That's all I have to say about that.
Oh and I don't like milk either, but I must admit I do use cups. Title: Milk Cup Post by: DV on Wednesday, August 2, 2006, 16:01:53 The reason youth players dont make the step up is because they arent physically big and strong enough.
Obviously when playing in age levels everyone is of similiar age, and therefore most are of similiar build. I've stood along side Ashan Holgate and hes a bit tallker than me...6ft possibly 6ft 1 yet last season the defenders seemed to tower over him still!! Title: Milk Cup Post by: genf_stfc on Friday, August 4, 2006, 15:09:35 anyone actually watching it now ? I'm on the site but it i don't get any live pictures. Wondering if its one of those shitty "you aren't in the UK so you are not allowed to see it" things
Title: Milk Cup Post by: genf_stfc on Friday, August 4, 2006, 15:13:06 or alternatively, how do i make the bbc think i have an ip address in the UK...

It's 0-0 at the mo, but Town on top. Look bloody good actually. Title: Milk Cup Post by: genf_stfc on Friday, August 4, 2006, 15:18:53 I think I can do it if I install real audio on a linux machine in my office in the UK, and then connect to that.. but frankly by the time I have installed real audio on it the game would be over. knackers

I think it's still 0-0 unless there were any goals in the first 10 minutes. No one's really looked better than the other of what I've seen, although Crumlin Utd hit the post. Half time, it is 0-0 Title: Milk Cup Post by: Gwah on Friday, August 4, 2006, 15:34:18 No goals in first 10 minutes, so I can confirm it is 0-0.
Title: Milk Cup Post by: DerbyRed on Friday, August 4, 2006, 15:34:53 Been reasonably impressed with what I've seen so far - thought our no's 8 (the captain i think?) and 11 stood out in the 1st half!
