I was unable to make the game yesterday but sounds like we dominated at time and played well- which is good.

My question to those who went, was how did Andy Nicholas play? This morning on Radio Swindon Dennis Wise said he beleives that Nicho is a centre back and not a left back? My fear is that Brentford game last season....

I suppose it depends if he's just thrown into the position or if he's being tutuored into the role.  He was chucked in as a central defender at the end of last season during our period of selecting formations based on a lottery system, he also had Brown as the left wing back (not the best defender in the world) and as part of a 3 probably didn't have a tight marking role.

If he's brought in as part of central defence with a proper left back outside him, and he's given clear instruction on his role, then he should be able to do the job.

I found it strange that CCP was preferred as a left back to Nicho, and vice versa.

I thought it was strange too, but in fairness I thought he did pretty well in general, as did CCP as a defensive left back.

I missed the Brentford game, so cant really compare to that.

Did you ever see Viveash's debut?  Very similar standard I'd say.

He did a job yesterday and didnt fail.  I wouldnt say he stood out but won his fair share of tackles and headed well.  I didnt think any town player dominated yesterday and would certainly say ifil and williams are well ahead of him in centre defence

I think DW is playing him there because of his passing ability. He might lack a header or two and he certainly hasn't got much pace, but that's what Ifil makes up for.

  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

I suppose relative to Jerel he's OK, but generally last season his passing was shocking....which is a problem for a left back because it tends to open up large areas of space for counter attack....think DW probably thinks Nicho is no left back.....and may do less damage in the middle.

He always seemed a bit tall for a left back to me anyway.  not sure tall full backs work very well.

He's a fit lad, so provided the beer is avoided this season he should be more than able to cope with role, and he isn't a slouch (just has a languid sort of running style).  He'll be back-up anyway to Williams and Ifil.

A good name from the past.....try him out on faux Chelsea fans.

Rob, I used to think the same about Nicho and tall left backs, but my mind was changed by Fabio Grosso in the WC.....Nicho should try and be more like him. 8)

At least Ossie had the common sense to put Viveash out of his misery and take him off.

Mind you, Nicho hasn't played a competitive game since.

Oi lay off Viveash, was it the Newcastle game where he played in place of Taylor at very short notice and had an absolute steamer, just for that one game I'll be forever in viveash's debt.

Reg with Nicho our Grosso and Pook our Gattuso (cough), Peacock our Luca Toni there will be no stopping us next year.  We just need another 8 Italian wannabees and we'll be up by Christmas.

Think you could onto something JA...if Rodrigo put his hair up into a gay bunch he could be Camoranese....and Gurney could elbow with all the malice of a Danielle de Rossi.......the cigar smoking manager might be a problem....maybe BWB could find a solution.

Still doing those pissy little headers, instead of heading clear. Will cost us goals. On the floor he wasnt too bad.
