 Kroney is OK, but Budvar is the dogs....unfortunately you can't get it in many places to my knowledge.

budvar is pretty widespread nowadays, its a poor offie that doesn't stock it.

8% king cobra is my top find to date, amazing stuff.

i just got some taste the difference (:fag:) medium sweet cider from sainsburys, apart from some brand called MERRYDOWN theres no other medium sweet about.

  I'm talking pubs and clubs....as you know we're pretty backward in Swiindonia.   I use about 5 or 6 with varying degrees of regularity...then the very occasionals on the quiz circuit and only one does Budvar.

 Medium sweet cider sounds like a girls drink....but if its what you like then why not?

it may sound girly (and does taste quite like apple juice), but 7.3% for £2.40 a pint is good enough for me, i get it from our favourite local in norwich

ooh yes budvar is very hard to find in pubs, no chance in clubs. being in the student area in norwich we have 9 locals (all within 5mins walk of the doorstep!) and one of them has it on draught.

I suppose that's an impressive award...when we get Norwich in a cup then we'll know where to find you....( I say this every year knowing we'll not get past the 1st round in any)

as a matter of interest the first place i drank budvar in was the brunel rooms around 14 years ago.as for the cider i love the magners,had an all dayer on that last sat at the wroughton carnival.good piss up

My old local replaced the American stuff with Budvar about 9 years ago.  

Back at the time though it was still called Budweiser but I think the Yanks forced them to change their name.

Being a fan of the American piss I’m ashamed to admit that I thought it an attempt to shift some knock off Eastern European cheap stuff and still charge normal prices.

Took a while to get used to but a cracking drink.  Much prefer a Corona in this weather though.

You can still get 4X in the shops, normally the second cheapest brand above Skol.  I think there are 1 or 2 pubs that still sell it.

Haven't had a pint of Harp in a while, nice creamy style lager that one if I fancy a change.

On the Budvar/Budweiser thing, you can still find it labelled Budweiser I think.  There was something in the press not to long ago about the two companies still battling it out.  Might be just here and the US that it can't be sold as Budweiser?

I'm firmly of the opinion that Lime and Lager should be kept well apart.

 When I was a kid Corona...was the best pop going, even better than Tizer.

  It had deposit bottles so you could scrape up some money from going on a bit of a trawl to find abandoned bottles, and take them back to the shop....very environmental..

I remember Corona Pop, used to lap up the Orange one - didn't you get some money for returning them?

Dazzza, the beer with tequila is desperado.  Tastes terrible imho, someone kept buying them for me a couple of weeks ago until I made them buy me numbers instead, although I don't particularly like that either.  Buying bottled beer is just a waste of money in my book, even in a club I'd normally rather have a pint and spill most of it :D

What I've always been about the lime in the bottle is that it's there to keep the flies out(in a different climate of course).  Barmen look at you stange when you don't want it, but I tried to get drunk on Lager & lime top deck for years and it never worked.

I'm consuming some J W Dundee's American Pale Ale. Bought it for a party, but got some left over, so it needs to be drunk. Needs must.

Might inbibe in some Tuppers Hop Pocket Ale next.

To clear up the tequila/lager arguement, Corona doesn't have it in. Desperado does (with lime too, i think?) and I've only ever seen it in the Spot...

Noticed today that the new bar thing between the Kings and Mckenzies is now open, looks a bit trendy for my tastes in an up market way.....maybe one of the Old Town residents could give a quick report, on beers,ambience....fitness of birds etc.

the bank. will certainly kill off the apartment as a 'trendy' venue, similar to what happened to po na na. with longs, mackers, the spot and now the bank all in close proximity the apartment's clientele may well choose not to venture down vic hill on a saturday night which will result in old town becoming a pretentious hellhole for a beer come the weekend. canny beat the steam though for old time's sake. infact i'm popping up there for a few jars in a matter of minutes. balmy sunday evening beers; bliss.

 The Old Bank please Dex.....if it kills off the Apartment, does that mean our players will be pissing it up in there from now on....probably where Iffy was heading on Friday,  when I saw him.

Anything that kills off the Apartment is good in my book, I have some serious issues with that place.  I don't mind the Old Town nicety pubs too much, offers a bit of balance to the seedy lower half of Town, but anywhere that is so up itself it can't sell beer in a pint glass, only a small measure, and still charges more than a pint is no friend of mine.

The entrance charge also pisses me off, as does the fact I paid to enter once just to meet someone before moving off!  £6, empty, no pint, still spent nearly £4 on a drink and the fucking piano wasn't being played.  I expressed my lack of humour at this scenario on the way out.

The Spot on the other hand has found a place in my affections after I was allowed a full 30 minutes of fun by convincing a group of girls that I was infact an Internet Porn star of anal reputation.  Anywhere attracting such a gullible crowd does it for me.  It was like Walkabout but with posher stupid people and better eye candy.

 I've had some pretty good bait in there, well before it got expanded....sometimes making a place bigger means the food suffers a bit...good to know its still sound.
