Title: Players
Post by: STFC Bart on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, 09:00:02
What the hell is going on?

I thought we could compete for the better players out there. What a joke. We are a striker down and dont have a goalie and are losing out regularly to other temas in our division for players

We have signed players.

Players cost money.

Therefore, money (presumably Power's) has been spent.

Yes, I think that's where Dennis is going wrong. He should be signing good players.

Some one should have a word. :|

Powers money settled trading debts and I believe has ensured the CVA payment next summer is now covered.  Plus any player coming in on a free will require a signing on fee.

I'm still intrigued by who these great players that other league 2 sides have been signing are though?  Can anyone shed some light on this for me because as far as I can tell, the only half decent players people seem to think we should have been going for have signed for League 1 sides at least (Marshall for example, possibly Boland)

That really is a shit statement. What evidence to you have to back that up with?

Actually, let me tell you. You don't have any evidence because it hasn't been happening!

Nope he said money would be made available if the right sort of player did become available and required a fee, however he qualified that and said a Rooney type of player.

So, if we can find someone a lot better than the freebies and our current squad, and they want to come to us in League 2, then and only then might we see a fee being paid.

He invested a million squids into the running of the club upfront with the prospect of more to come as needed.  Wise also made it clear he would have to wheel and deal and had not been promised a transfer kitty.

Because they were all sucked into the Void which then collpased in on itself.  However, my eagle eyed vision did detect 1 Dalek who escaped.

It should also be remembered that we are in the 4th Division and even if you have a transfer budget of 10 million quid there's a limit to the type of player you're going to be able to bring in.

so without powers money no signings would have been made?
surely the releasing of players left money to bring in replacements anyway.devlin is always going on about how the club do not spend what isnt there, and the fact that extra money(powers) should be in place,  i expected more activity in the transfer market by now

yes - the commander dalek timeslipped under the river ray bridge at Mannington - I had a brief chat with him this morning. Well - I say a chat - bit more of a passing shout really, "exterminate me you monocular, podically challeged wheelie bin - I should cocoa!" and I pushed him in the river with his friends, the shopping trollies.
Yeovil, you can still become a cyberman, rip out your brains with a disc cutter and stick them in one of those Robosapiens - wait a bit till you grow and get a raygun wristband and then Trigger from Only Fools and Horses  can start his evil plan all over again to oust Willie Carson and relocate the County Ground to jolly Milton Keynes (MK Swins 3 Franchise 0)

Lets not forget every player we have signed has come from a higher division than the one we find ourselves in, and generally has had good things said about them, plus 3 out of the 4 (if you exclude Wise as a player as well and Onibuje who is more a long term trial) played games in that league as opposed to being on their reserve list all season, the type of player being "trialled" at many clubs in our league at the moment.

in no way am i critising our new players,i just thought there would be more of them and maybe a fee or two paid out from powers dosh.rather than taking players released from their previous clubs

Good point Rob.  all players signed other than the nigerian have a pedigree much better than L2.

Anyone who was expecting "big names" was/is deluded. We are in L2.

We still have loanees to come.

well, if they were still alive (and I have a hunch they may yet return in the future) they would drop down this low, more chance of upgrading.

I can't remember where I read it, but it has been said that the wage budget is more than that of this time last year.

Hence extra money.

Yeah we do, hopefully Dennis can bring in some good players for those positions. I'm fairly confident he will do - I've been impressed with him up until now.

Sign a Dalek to play in goal.

He'd be better than schmeicel for barking orders at the defence.

I'm fairly sure that Exterminating the other teams players must result in a red card though.  I notice that Legget's post in the Phillips thread had a description of a Cyberman though which seemed to closely match Gurney.

I would say we won't see so much as a stray pube until we have played a few pre-season games and seen a few of these trialists.

I have a feeling we will be signing at least a couple of these trialists, Dennis just wants to see them in a match situation first.

We'd have to tell Davey Dalek to go easy on the extermination front, and also to not declare war on the inferior CyberGurney at right back and all his kind (Bristolians? this gets better all the time!)

Failing that, just exterminate the ref.
