this voting stuff. the main quote to look out for is

Ronaldo went from 210,290 to 241,775 votes, but Valencia soared from 195,377 to 331,087. Fifa has the final say.

so does this mean anything?

I cant see how it could to be honest.  The whole point in voting is that its the fans decision and if the fans hate Ronaldo and vote for Valencia then so be it!

To give Ronaldo the award would be going against the majority.

Whats the point in having a vote if they then go and pick it themselves?.

After last nights diving C.Ronaldo doesnt deserve fuck all apart from a Right Hook from Rooney.

Did you even read the article? It would be going against the stupid England fans with a great big chip on their shoulders- maybe 500 people on account or something, hardly a majority- who are dodging the real issue behind our failure- the shitness.

I think I agree with Dave on this one, its about time people stopped blaming Ronaldo for us being shit, not creating any chances and not taking enough strikers...

Im perfectly aware we were shit.

Just stating the way Ronaldo behaves doesnt warrant the award in question............ ie. diving etc. for anyone wanting to argue.

but the award should be judged on his footballing ability surely?

I blame Ralphy, not Ronaldo. If he wasn't too busy sleeping with his Dad we would have won.

Surely as a rounded player?

Skill
performance
Does sportsmanship not come into the equation anymore then?

That is my opinion end of

Well neither the Portuguese or Ecuadorian player won. So this debate is largely irrelevant now.

sadly sportsmanship doesnt come into any more...the way in which you act on a pitch generally does not affect how well you can play football at all...

I can understand why everyone got on at Ronaldo at first, its nature really to try and place the blame else where....but at the end of the day Ronaldo is no worse than the majority of footballers out there.....you'd struggle to find a player that doesnt dive or cheat in some form....

...all of a sudden everyone is having a go at Ronaldo like he is the only footballer that ever dared to try and gain an advantage illegally.....

Fact is, Ronaldo [as much as I dislike him] has played well in the World Cup.....

But Podolski played better. Ribery was an inspired player for France, which is why it seems daft they've judged it already.

exactly, at the end of the day real madrid aren't going to pay that other small team man utd 20 million because he's naff

he's become the english scapegoat which is wrong, the players and manager have to take the flak for their ineptitude. the greatest game i remember was beating the argies in 2002, owen dived. he dived in 98 too. chalke white dived at wembley ffs
