Title: Always looking for a scapegoat Post by: SwindonTartanArmy on Monday, July 3, 2006, 13:00:28 As usual, Ronaldo and the referee is getting blamed for england going out and not the real reasons like Shrek getting frustrated again, Svens complete lack of comprehension of football tactics, and a general lack of bottle in shoot outs.
Englands problems in shoot outs is all psycological, they are going into them thinking about failure. Look at germany, only lost one shoot out in 17 attempts, they go in thinking they will win them Title: Always looking for a scapegoat Post by: Bennett on Monday, July 3, 2006, 13:05:58 i agree
Title: Always looking for a scapegoat Post by: RobertT on Monday, July 3, 2006, 13:20:39 I don't think there are large amounts of people thinking anyone was "to blame" for us going out. The Ronaldo issue is more to do with his general behaviour as a professional footballer. I for one have hated the chap for quite sometime, given his general attitude in the Prem, that doesn't mean I'm using him as a scapegoat. We went out because we were shit at penalties, Ronaldo is still a little fuck though.
Title: Always looking for a scapegoat Post by: SwindonTartanArmy on Monday, July 3, 2006, 13:24:03 To be fair to Ronaldo, he only did what everyone would do, down the parks on a sunday, after a player had crushed their teammates testicles!

Not really, the sunday league responce would be a punch in the head / 22 man brawl. Its not Ronaldo's fault we are out , he is still a complete cunt though. I didn't even find that the most offensive thing of the game from him to be honest, it's more his inability to stay stood up when an opposition plyer comes within 2 feet of him and his constant look of anguish whenever he doesn't get a decision. It's not just this game, it's a careers worth of it, and having had the displeasure of seeing it week in week out for Man Utd on our TV's. A bit like Leon Knight, just about 100 times as bad. Title: Always looking for a scapegoat Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Monday, July 3, 2006, 14:29:37 We weren't good enough. End of story, no scapegoats required.
But that does not mean that Portugal are not a bunch of complete cunts. I hate them and I hope the Frogs do them 5-0 - FACT! Title: Always looking for a scapegoat Post by: Sade on Monday, July 3, 2006, 14:51:34 I think people are getting things mixed up. I think the majority of us are just plain mad at ronaldo and the ref because....well they were shit but we're not blaming them. Although yes there are alot of people that will always find someone to blame, and to me thats just pure arrogance. The honest people will know we just did'nt have that little bit of extra sparkle to win the game and for that its our own fault and Nobody elses.
I still think Ronaldo is a complete and utter tosser though. England were fortunate enough to get to the quarters, they deserved to go no further, can't really see how so many (mainly journalists) have so many complaints about the Portuguese/referee. Everyone knows what the Portuguese are like (Celtic v Porto 2003) and the ref had a pretty good game. I hope most of you took your defeat like men and did your best to drown your sorrows. Title: Always looking for a scapegoat Post by: Spencer_White on Monday, July 3, 2006, 16:45:40 Its got to be Sven. Never seen us underperform so badly. Worst tournament under Sven with our best set of players for years.
Little passion, few goals, boring tactics. On reflection, we were poor. We never produced that defining performance, rose to the challenge. At least in 2002 and 2004 we thrashed the likes of Switzerland and Denmark. We didnt hand out a beating to anyone this tournament, and never looked likely to. Good riddance to Sven. Title: Always looking for a scapegoat Post by: Spencer_White on Monday, July 3, 2006, 17:40:22 Anyone see that 'social experiment' on Newsnight a couple of days ago? They drove a car decked out in England flags and painted St Georges on the bonnet through the east end of Glasgow near Celtic Park. Was funny.

See what the little fuckers did with it while it was parked up? When I worked up there, if there was any car with a non-scots plate on it, it usually had its wing mirror ripped off or dog-shit wiped allocer the door handles...fuckers |
