Title: 3 questions Post by: red macca on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 21:59:56 1)what finishing position would you be happy with at the end of the season..
2)what players will be the ones to watch out for(only two choices please) 3)what player is likely to cost us points.(only one choice please) heres mine anyway 1)i want top 3 but will be more than happy with play off spot 2)christian roberts i think he could be massive in this division and obviously dennis wise 3)jerel iffil. please bare in mind my opinions are only based on what i have heard and read in the last 4 years. Title: 3 questions Post by: Amir on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 22:17:04 1. Top ten
2. Peacock and Wise 3. The invisible keeper at the moment. Title: 3 questions Post by: STFCere on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 22:36:40 1. would be disappointed if not promoted
2. wise o'hanlon, o'hanlon because with proper guidance could turn into a great centre back 3. hopefully nicholas will be kept out by vincent so in that case shakes, pace is his ONLY attribute Title: 3 questions Post by: digby on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 22:43:19 1. automatic promotion :D
2. obviously Wise :king: , perhaps Monkhouse :o 3. Whalley - just aint up to the physical bustle of this div ! :( Title: 3 questions Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 22:44:32 firstly, i think a top 12 finish is satisfactory but only because i feel this season will be about consolidation, next year will be our title challenge! i'd be disappointed deep down if we didn't go up or at least challenge for promotion but i'm being realistic enough as well.
secondly, i think peacock is going to thrive this season under wise, especially if this fitness regime works. i can see vincent being an integral and experienced part of the side as well. wise, if he plays, will undoubtedly be of a standard well above this division. finally, jerel will be the weak link in the side unless he actually gets some decent defensive coaching and turns his game around completely. sadly i think that's beyond him, so i'm praying we sign another centre-back. Title: 3 questions Post by: Tails on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 22:48:02 I think you need to be kicked in the face if you think we're going up next season.
1) top half 2) someone completely unexpected 3) nicholas Title: 3 questions Post by: yeo on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 22:52:11 Im sorry but I dont buy all this top half and ill be happy crap. Not one of you thinks we will be anywhere but at least the playoffs and you know it.You either think Wise is our saviour or you dont.If we dont go up he's failed pure and simple.
Title: 3 questions Post by: Amir on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 22:57:58 Quote You either think Wise is our saviour or you dont I'm don't agree with that at all, and surely it depends on how you thought we'd do before he arrived. If you thought we'd struggle then getting us into the top half could make him our saviour. Title: 3 questions Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 22:58:19 don't tell me what i think, you damned god hippy twat fascist!
i don't understand why he's failed if we don't go straight back up. he's taking over at a club in a transitional period, players have left, players have come in, we have no goalkeepers, he's needs time to get things right on and off the pitch. Title: 3 questions Post by: yeo on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 23:07:29 Hes been brought in to get promotion and if he doesnt he's failed. We don't have time to fuck about in this division. You don't appoint Wise and Poyet to consildate Div 3 football you get them in to take you up.You cant tell me this so called "feel good" factor that everyone talks about is because people feel the club might finish top half?
Title: 3 questions Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 23:14:46 bollocks, you can't pissabout with quick fix solutions anymore. that's what iffy was and look where we've ended up.
oxford have gone through managers almost yearly since they were relegated to the bottom division and they've ended up in non-league, all because their fans had the attitude of "we're going to get promoted" every single season, regardless of how shit they were. if we don't go up next season - which i doubt we will - then replacing wise & poyet with someone else next summer will just prolong our stay in league 2 and further our demise... Title: 3 questions Post by: Amir on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 23:20:58 Quote You cant tell me this so called "feel good" factor that everyone talks about is because people feel the club might finish top half? I can't speak for anyone else, but for me I was more pleased by Bill Power's arrival than Dennis Wise's. That gave me belief that we wouldn't end up going out of business or out of the league, and that a few years down the line we might end up with a club that wouldn't want to settle for league 1 football. I may be niave, but then my relationship with STFC is often irrational. Title: 3 questions Post by: yeo on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 23:21:37 Im not listening- Im not listening -Im not listening
If we finish 12 you will be pissed off..I know it ..you know it ..Wise knows it. If the extent of our ambitions next year are consildation then they players hes managed to sign must be crap. "come to Swindon were hoping for a top half finish next year it will be ace" Personally I think your trying to cushion the blow of probable failure for yourself and thats fine Title: 3 questions Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 23:27:05 course i'll be gutted if we don't go up, but that's a given surely? i'm just not overdosing on blind optimism, my esteemed friend.
in fairness the players we've signed aren't exactly setting my pulse racing so maybe you're right Title: 3 questions Post by: yeo on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, 23:30:07 Ok well good then. :D

2. Peacock/Poyet if he plays 3. Nicho, because he was disappointing last season. I actually think Ifil will be better under Wise. Hes quick, powerful and with the right coaching could be a great player. Title: 3 questions Post by: McLovin on Thursday, June 29, 2006, 08:04:10 Play-offs
Wise and Peacock Monkhouse - i have a bad feeling he'll miss sitters/fail to work hard for the cause. Dunno why, as i've never seen him Title: 3 questions Post by: Dazzza on Thursday, June 29, 2006, 08:37:02 1. Top Half – Nothing to that suggest anything different and getting carried away with, yet.
2. Wise & Roberts 3. TBC Title: 3 questions Post by: SwindonTartanArmy on Thursday, June 29, 2006, 09:18:09 Playoffs minimum but we should get at least a top three automatic promotion
Looking forward to seeing Poyet play. Also Monkhouse and Peacock should be goof next season. Liability of the year is Gurney. All his suspensions will cost us. Title: 3 questions Post by: normy on Thursday, June 29, 2006, 09:59:06 Avoiding relegation
Wise and a new goal-scoring striker we are about to sign Jack Smith Title: 3 questions Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Thursday, June 29, 2006, 11:05:20 Right then:
1. Top 2. Wise, Peacock and Vincent (based on the two 10 second clips I have seen and nothing else) 3. Not an issue as we will not be dropping that many points and every point gained against us this season will be earned by hard graft, not by us giving goals away on a plate. Title: 3 questions Post by: Arriba on Thursday, June 29, 2006, 11:33:12 1.play offs minimum

Any lower in this shit league is failure. Those who say there is not much difference between Leagues 1 and 2 are wrong. League 2 is shit.
Peacock & Roberts. If Roberts gets himself fit these two can tear this division apart. Ifil. A truely shocking player. Title: 3 questions Post by: pumbaa on Friday, June 30, 2006, 15:10:03 1. Be happy with play-offs, but realistically we're more likely to finish mid-table IMHO.
2. Peacock & Roberts (I bloody well hope) 3. Gurney. But I hope he proves me wrong. |
