Title: jerusalem Post by: genf_stfc on Sunday, June 25, 2006, 10:08:15 cracking tune and all that, but i've never really understood the lyrics. I'm sure they are very deep and all, but would someone care to explain ? IN the first bit I'm not sure if the answers to the questions are yes or no or indeed whether thats good or not. The burning sword and that stuff is clearly pretty clear that somethings worth fighting for, but then why would we really want to build jerusalem here ? I'm sure when Blake wrote it it wasn't the war zone it is now, but even so, why ?
please discuss... And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green And was the holy lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen And did the countenance divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills And was Jerusalem builded there Among those dark Satanic mills Bring me my bow (my bow) of burning gold Bring me my arrows of desire Bring me my spears o'clouds unfold Bring me my chariot of fire I will not cease from mental fight Nor shall my (my) sword sleep in hand 'Til we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land 'Til we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land Title: jerusalem Post by: flammableBen on Sunday, June 25, 2006, 11:03:57 I guess he means build a Jerusalem as in a state worthy of god or sommin.

Title: jerusalem Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, June 25, 2006, 11:27:25 Yeah, I usually avoid Varsity now and go to Avondales. Atmosphere is a bit tame, but at least you have more chance of getting a good spot and the beer is just as cheap.

Geting back to the subject, wiki pedia clears a fewthings up. later on, when some one offers to go to the bar, i will ask for a pint and then aske if they can also bring me my bow (my bow) of burning gold. Title: jerusalem Post by: Spud on Sunday, June 25, 2006, 12:29:40 Fat Les - Jerusalem
