Title: Swindons answer to Peter Crouch
Post by: DV on Friday, June 23, 2006, 20:44:51
From a Huddersfield fan
Quote
I dont remember him playing for us. Obviously made a lasting impression then.

From a Barnet fan
Quote
we had him on trial last pre-season, he was abysmal beyond belief - we lost 1-0 to hayes with him up front - it was embarrassing to watch. he has the touch of a rapist....

From a Peterborough fan
Quote
Onabujaeaer whatever the hell his name is is laughably shite. He really is. Looses most in the air (despite being abot 9 foot 7) and can't control or pass, is about as mobile as a tank... seriously how the hell did he end up impressing your scouts?!?!?!

From a Peterborough fan
Quote
Yeah seriously, he was worse than Trevor Benjamin. We thought he might do a job when we were on the verge of relegation in 03/04; he's ****in huge and scary looking, but i remember seeing him away at brentford and he lost everything in the air including loosing out twice to a 5 foot 7 odd full back! it was untrue, nearly laughed. He's blatently just in football cos he's tall, really really lacks ability.

Unless his time at the masters of good football, scumbridge has converted him...

From a Barnet fan
Quote
i thought they'd just hauled him off a basketball court tbh

Is Andy King still in charge? I'm even starting to like the idea of Chris McPhee and Trevor fucking Benjamin

Well let's atleast give him a chance and make our own judgement rather than listen to them. I'm not saying they are wrong but atleast give the guy a chance.

nope, but then again I havent really put across my opinion on him, however the above quotes are by people who HAVE seen him play.

Saying that, they could have blinked and missed him

2 sub appearences for Huddersfield
4 sub appearences for Barnsley
2 sub appearences for Peterborough
Then 26 starts and 11 sub appearences for Cambridge City scoring 11 goals

clearly he isn't going to start ahead of peacock, roberts, caton, lukas, or anyone else we may sign. 3 month contract is an extended trial, if he's good (or has potential) then he'll stay.

at 21 he's still not the finished article and can certainly improve with the correct coaching.

then again, if he's gash then we've only committed 12 weeks worth of wages on him: £6000 at most.

before we all get carried away here, he is only on a 3 month deal

1. As has already been pointed out, he is only on a three month deal so if he is as crap as we have been lead to believe he will be gone at the end of the three months. No problem.

2. I remember the Barnsley fans' comments when we signed Rory: "Bambi on ice" and "Rory Falldown" spring to mind and they turned out to be total bollocks. So I will only judge him on what he does for us and nothing else.

As far as I can see, it's a 'no lose' situation for us.

Typical. Lets slate the players before they even kick a ball for us. There are negatives about every player somewhere. You're only making a point because you've rounded them up and put them into one post.

OK, I have consulted the people in the know, and the official verdict on our new 3 month star is:

Technically very good, has all the skills necessary to play Championship level football, but...

...has one of the poorest attitudes he has ever seen.  Does not put in the effort, turns up late for training etc etc etc.

Basically, his overall opinion was that on a 3 month deal and with someone to really push him and enforce the rules on him, he might well be worth it.  Said he wouldn't sign him unless that can be sorted because without the discipline, he'd be shit.

The special sauce is not Heinz, it's someone who will have seen this player in most if not all of his appearances for Cambridge Utd (and will have taken notes on those performances, not just watched).

Errrrr......at the very start of the thread where you have quoted the negative comments from various people who have seen him play and you have effectively said. "Well they must be right then, he must be crap" I think that counts as slating him.

Chris McPhee worked fucking hard!!

Anyhow....what I really meant to say was....if all these quotes are indeed 100% accurate then I dont think they be will be a huge hit at Swindon Town Football Club, if these quotes are 100% true then the idea of Chris McPhee and Trevor fucking Benjamin upfront sounds rather more pleasent. Of course these quotes may not be 100% true and I will not judge him untill I have personally watched him played a decent amount of matches, good day sir....
