Title: car insurance- second year Post by: RobertT on Monday, June 19, 2006, 11:43:10 why not have a look at one of the comparison sites?
moneynet.co.uk moneysupermarket.com confused.com uswitch.com (although not sure if they do insurance comparisons). Use them as a guide then get proper quotes from the better looking ones. Norwich Union do that odd per per mile one, where they stick something in young uns cars to track usage. Title: car insurance- second year Post by: Nomoreheroes on Monday, June 19, 2006, 12:46:16 I'm afraid the best way to proceed is to shop around. Insurance companies are notorious for giving you a 'good' deal in the first year hoping that you will stay with then for a 2nd and 3rd etc. It is then that they really stiff you ! Having said that, there are some exceptions, but I think other factor come into play then.
You can never tell which insurance company is going to be the best as often their rates depend upon how many policies they have sold at that point of the year or month in some cases. So all of your mates insurance experience may be totally different to yours. My advice ? Look on t'internet on the sites that were suggested to get a rough idea of spread. Then pull out the Yellow Pages, look up car insurance, and phone up ALL of the 1-800 numbers. That way you will get the best deal. Thats the way I always used to do it in the UK and I never found anyone who had cheaper insurance than me ! Also fully understand the clauses they quote as well - they can rattle them off pretty quickly, so take time to ask questions. Also if you up your Excess amount, you can make some big savings - however I suspect as a young 'un you've got a fairly substantial XS as it is. I'm going to have some fun when I return to the UK in 18 months having had no insurance in the UK for three years.....ho hum. Ooops ! The sad thing is that I still couldn't see what I'd done wrong even when it was highlighted...Very, very worrying ! Resistance is indeed futile !!! For Mr Coxernator, try the Sunrise Group of Pennsylvannia for your insurance. They do a special for military and Mr Blair's army. Much cheaper than Farmer's, Geico etc. Ref returning home: Have been in that position before (and will be again next year). The way I get round it is to be 'honest' in my answers to questions. ie Just don't tell them unless they ask. If it causes a problem, ask for the manager etc. NMH Title: car insurance- second year Post by: Nomoreheroes on Monday, June 19, 2006, 13:38:20 I see that RSA would desperately love your (and anyone elses) business !

Title: car insurance- second year Post by: Gazza's Fat Mate on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, 12:08:52 As I work in insurance I give you the following advice:
1. Lie about the numebr of years no claims bouns only a third of policy's are checked. 2. Always ask for the legal expense cover to be taken off. It costs the insure £5 to buy but they charge you £40 plus!!!!! if you have an accident there are plent of no win no fee people out there. 3. Check your last few mot's and work how your average milage and tell you insure as you my qulify for a low milage policy. 4. Well I ahve to get back to work and as your not going to read this any way it doesnt matter!
