Title: Brake Pads
Post by: Luci on Saturday, June 17, 2006, 10:09:18
Right, , every time I brake my car makes a grinding noise so I'm guessing I've worn my brake pads down without realising.

Im taking the car to the garage later (even though I doubt its safe to drive) but don't want to get ripped off.  Anyone know how much theyre likely to cost?

Car is a Ford Fiesta Zetec (T Reg if that makes any difference).

I have but the problem is only one can work on them today and I really need my car this weekend. None of them would quote me until they can look at the car. I think its because I mentioned there were funny noises coming from it.

How much is too much to pay though?

bit dodgy not having a quote before hand, id say no more than £60 which would still be a bit expensive

Kwik Fit arent mechanics they are fitters.

my experience of kwick fit was,my car failed the mot because of a brake fault a few years ago.took the car to kwick fit and paid around £200 for the work.took the car back for the mot re-test and it failed again.luckily the garage sorted out the fuck up by kwick fit and didn't charge me again for the mot.i always use this garage now and have reccomended them to loads of people.m&b opposite the swiss chalet, good honest and fair.

The problem is I live in Cheltenham and not keen on driving the car for a few minutes let alone back down the 419.

The problem is Im selling my car soon anyway so need to get everything done that needs doing. Back wiper decided to stop on me as well.

I don't think so, what symbol is it supposed to show?  No light has come on though so I imagine I don't have one?  :?

Not yet probably will do it beginning of September as need it to commute when I move home.  Not sure I like the idea of getting a train.  Still not sure how much I'll get for it though.
