I've no doubt he's a great player for Munich, but he can't cut it for his country - I still think he has some dirt on Sven to even be kept in the squad let alone played

Hargreaves has been pretty shit for England no matter how good he is for his club and with Carrick, Carragher and Jenas in the team there was no need to select him, wouldn't boo him though, just wouldn't cheer him.

Have to say, the Hargreaves substitution was an odd one - it seemed strange going defensive at that stage in the game when the current system seemed to be working adequately.  I felt like booing the decision, but I'm indifferent to Hargreaves.  I just assume Sven must know something I don't, as from what I've seen he's useless, but then again I'm not a manager.

i just dont understand why you would bring on hargreaves when carrick is also on the bench. Commentators say its to 'sure up the midfield' but he cant tackle, doesn't close down and makes stray passes. i dont even consider him english anyway. brought up in canada and played all his football in germany.

to some up: Hargreaves = Crap.

carrick less than 24 hrs before had been subject to a bid from man utd so i would imagine his preparations were a little fucked up..also a few mates of mine assur me that it was actually german fans who were booing hargreave

saw an interview with hargreaves earlier and he seemed a good lad, basically told anyone who didn't like him to get lost.

i've been a bit sceptical of him myself but everyone who's seen him regularly rates him.

I've only ever seen hargreaves play when he's been put on as a weird sven substitution.  It can't be the easiest way to put in a performance.

If sven was going to bring on a midfielder for owen then I would have gone for Carrick, still alowed joe cole to push forward a bit but sat gerrard on the left side of the centre midfield to cover him when he did. That would have also allowed Ashely Cole to have bombed forward aswell.

All a tad harsh for me.

Granted most of his appearances for England of late have been as a sub or out of position but he’s been a decent player for England in the past.  

Not exceptional or coming close to reproducing his form for Munich and on evidence possibly not the best choice of sub on Saturday at the time but that’s hardly his fault.  He was hardly the worst player on the pitch when he came on either.  Quite a few went AWOL while Neville’s passes at times I can only liken to chewing cotton wool.  

If he was starting games, costing us points and playing like shit then fair enough but to boo a player like that when he comes on is a bit out of order.  He’s not really going to break up the current midfield quartet or a player that can come on and win a game on his own but as a squad player he’s versatile enough to play in a number of positions which makes him an asset.

Part of the problem with Hargreaves is that most of us DO NOT see him play regularly, unless you are an avid watcher of Bayern games. I haven't seen him play for Bayern so I can't comment.

I have seen him play for England. When he does, its usually

(a) For a short period of time as a late substitute involving Sven's wild tactical changes
(b) Often out of his 'natural' position, whatever that is

No wonder he looks crap.

Totally unfair if England fans are booing him though.

The only viable option of Hargreaves being in the squad let alone on the pitch is that he must be Svens love child.

From the bits and pieces I've seen and read from the Bunders this season he’s had an absolute storming campaign and full deserves his place in the squad.  Unless anyone has sat through the last season of the German league then I find the criticism of an England player based on a couple of bit part appearances as a friendly and a sub as pathetic to be honest.

Very True Dazzza, I too have heard that he has been in sparkling form this season, its hardly his fault for being picked ,give the lad a break .
