italy looked a good side.

Ghana are a decent striker away fro being a good side.

Kuffour is my new hero for uber foul play when he was offside anyway!

One constant in football is that African teams are decent until they get to the final third.

The only decent African striker Samual Eto'o isn't at the tournament because he lacked the bottle to take a last minute pen that would have qualified the Roons.

It was obvious after 15 mins, that Ghana wouldn't score if they had another 90 mins at it....

No idea why this should be........

Cameroon probably deserved to beat us in 1990 though.

Ivory Coast, with the best African team of the moment, have been drawn in a terrible group really.  Even Serbia & Someonethey'renolongerfriendswith have a very strong defence and will be a tough match.

It was all the rage to predict an African World Cup win in the not too distant future during the nineties, and possibly before, yet for all the psyhical and technical ability some of their teams possess, they don't seem to have cracked it yet.

They panic whenever they attack, no composure in the final third. The rest gives them the look of a good side.

A few good balls into the box and a decent marksman, and these African sides would be getting the results they deserve

The Ghanan keeper was ace in an irratic sort of way. Scared whenever he decided to do anything but still pulled of some amazing shot stopping. Bit like Frank Talia.

I was watching some clueless sports analysts disecting the poor Team USA (god I fucking hate that term) performance today. I can't recall the exact quote, but it went something like "We're a nation of immigrants, so we're more interested in other countries performances results".

Of course you are fuckwit. Especially when your own team is over-hyped, and actually not very good.

kuffour tackle was rash but a bit funny. he had a bit of a little spat with his club team mate de rossi over iaquinta injury. i did feel for kuffour at the end. totti played well until got caught with an afwul challenge. the roma boys did well. forza swindon/roma.

i was pretty impressed with ghana last night, i was expecting them to be proper crap but they really surprised me. like most of you have said they have the strength & technical ability but are short of a decent striker. appiah & essien played well.

the bloke at the front on the right has the best haircut of the tournament so far  8)  it looked like chocolate orange segments from the top

Surely there should be a FIFA investigation following this match (what with the Italians being involved), I mean, how on eart was that fan allowed on at left back in the second half for Ghana?  They must be fuming about that one, esepcially as it must have meant the kidnapping of the original left back who looked half decent.  And even when he sneaked on, surely the stewards should have dragged him off the pitch once it became apparant that he wasn't really a footballer.

Thought Ghana looked good in the first half but fell to pices bar the middle two in the second half.  That fancy footed midfielder caused them too many self inflicted problems in the second half though, trying to be as good as Essien and Appiah.

Motson and Ian Wright annoy me. Its fair enough somebody being passionate about his country, but the other day Wright said something like 'I don't care about anyone but England' fair enough, but the silly sod is paid to summarise on the match in hand (Can't remember which one it was). Get rid BBC and get somebody decent in instead.

We should count ourselves lucky that Motty and Pleat don't work together, I'd end up slitting my wrists even if England were winning the World Cup Final.

Here's an extract from Football 365:

'The BBC World Cup Coverage Is Saved!
Think that you have to listen to Motty and Lawrenson when you're watching BBC matches? Think again! It what must be the best piece of news this week (fingers crossed for Rooney tomorrow though), I've just read that if you've got digital TV, then you can choose your commentary for BBC matches! Apparently you can pick between the BBC TV or Radio 5 Live commentary, listen to the stadium noise (useful for if you hear a good abusive chant starting, but can't quite make out the words), or listen to foreign broadcasters!

I used to like John Motson, but recently have grown to hate the man, and that is in no small way thanks to Mark Lawrenson being beside him - I'm sure he brings him down. Anyway, I was dreading having to listen to them rattle on for 90 minutes, and this news has made my day. Imagine seeing Steven Gerrard breaking through the midfield, and you quickly switching over to the foreign (hopefully South American) commentator just as he slips the ball through to Michael Owen who skips past two defenders and plants one in the bottom corner. How much sweeter would it be to hear the cry of....

"GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!! GOAL GOAL GOAL GOOOOOOAAAL!!!!"

...rather than Motson just saying...

"Oh my, that was some strike by the England number 10. Mark, what do you make of it?"

"Well John, he hasn't scored for a while, so he was 'Owen' England a goal." (chuckles to himself smugly).

If only they could let you choose between pundits, then I could switch off Ian Wright at will.
Mat Tanner'
