Title: England B v Belarus - 25/05/2006
Post by: Batch on Monday, May 22, 2006, 15:35:02
Anybody else going to the Mad Stad to watch this on Thursday?

I know it's not a full international friendly, fringe players, loads of subs, etc, but at £15 I'm not complaining.

Actually I am. Reading's on line ticket booking is shit. I picked shit seats thinking they were all that were left thanks to the 'click where you want to sit' system then it told me not to forget my 'membership card'.....

Anyway Owen should play and Walcott should get some time on the pitch too. Let En-ger-lands world cup countdown proper begin.

Don't know, the online booking system is cack and I can't get in now (too busy). I got 3 in the corner @ 11am. I rang first and was  told I was number 49 in the queue (!!!!). this afternoon it I got straight in to talk to someone (needed to check my booking)..

Online bpoking: You have to click on the block of seats you want to sit and enter the number of tickets. Then it tells you if you can have them or not. There are lots of blocks to try out and in the end I settled for some naff ones in the corner.

Why can't they have a best available/best in this stand option?

Some left I think, probably 1s or 2s. Phone number is  0870 999 1871.  Not sure what the opening hours are.

24hr website is http://w3.reading.talentarena.co.uk/ . Keeps saying busy, but if you continually click "Click here to try again" you get in eventually.

Incidentally you need to register before booking. This crashed on me but it did work next time I got back in and logged on as 'existing user'.

If you do go you'll probably need to pick the tickets up from the box office before the game (they have 2, one for North stand and another one).

Just said on Talk Sport it's a sellout.

Agree worth the £15, better than your average 'B' inernational. On the down side I haven't got my tickets in the post yet. Bit of a worrier me.

Dunno, I guess hope that the box office does re-issues and take some ID and the booking reference to the box office!

They only stopped posting tickets after 2 pm Monday. So chances are they on their way.

I find watching a DVD on your own is better than with people at times, especially if it's a movie you really want to see. Manys the time i've whacked on a DVD with friends over, then got chatting and completely missed the movie, most recently Life Aquatic

It was England B ffs. The midfield was not the proper England team and I know it was only Belarus, but Lennon looked a class above. A goal was gifted to them because of Green and the second goal was due to Dawson's (recently subbed on) mistake. The only concern is our ability to meet a good cross (from a starting eleven perspective).

I only saw the second half after the Belarus fella got sent off. Personally, I would have hoped that a team full of Premiership players could have slaughtered the 'mighty' Belarus !

Performance that I watched was abysmal. Noone who could score a goal against what looked to me to be a dodgy keeper !

Shite !

The result isn't really important. More important is that Owen and Ashley Cole etc. came through it fine and the only player injured was green who was no likely to play anyway.

Lennon had a great game and hopefully he will feature in the first team a lot. The Owen and Crouch partnership is a good one, Hargreaves is a shit right back.

Lennon was fan'bloddy'tastic, ran all night and caused problems everytime he had the ball at his feet. Thought both Owen and Crouch were poor, both wasted good chances. Hargreaves was just awfull, never understood why he keeps getting picked for the squad, let alone allowed to play. Otherwise nothing really stood out. The only time the stadium really came alive was when Walcott came on, then to be fair the atmosphere was pretty good for 5 mins, although there was approx 22k there it very rarely felt like it.
Still a good night out for £15 though.

Agree with that 100%.

My opinion, I'll treat it as if it was a proper match. Clearly it wasn't:

James 6 :  Didn't have a lot to do. Did what he had to.
A. Cole 8 : Class act. Didn't look to like he had been out for most of the season
Carragher 6:  Solid but not a first choice
Camp-bell 6 : Looked slow and lumbering at times. Tried some things that I hope he won't against better opposition (should he play).
Hargreaves 6: Tried hard in an out of position role.
Lenon 9: Looked full of running and tricks .
Downing 4: Poor. poor, poor waste of a shirt
Jenas 4: See Downing
Carrick 5: Tried hard to get things going but had a mixed bag of a game.
Owen 5: Didn't look match sharp.
Crouch 6: Did some things well. Did some things poorly. Clearly in on hieght and not quality.
-----
J Cole 5: Has been to diving schoool.
Walcott 6: Very good first 5 minutes. Didn't get the oppertunity to impress as the game degenerated into stop/start subs and fouls.
Green 5 : oooouch!
Carson 6: Didn't do much. Good kicking,
Defoe 5: Not much chance to impress
---------------------------------------------------
Beer: Fosters. Not too bad if expectedly pricey 7
Hot Dog : Average frakfurter affair :5.
Taking the piss out the steward following a 'Curo/Swindon 3-1 win' conversation: Priceless

Was good night out for £15 only a shitty warm up game anyway....

Was bit annoying how Walcott maina took off so as he was ready to come on, as in chanting his name singing his name before he'd even touchd the ball?! Half the stadium has never seen him play ffs!

Bloke sat next to me spend the last 30mins sayin 'Give it to walcott' everytime ANY england player had the ball!

This team's B team had never played together before. They still had nearly 2/3rds of possession and were clearly the better side whether they won or not.
