How do players choose which one to play for? and as they have previously played for a different country ie Serbia & Montenegro does that mean they can no longer qualify to play for one of the new countries? Think you can pretty much do what you want in this situation. Sure most will choose to play for Serbia. Will still be playing as Serbia and Montenegro during the world cup. However UEFA want FIFA to ratify Montenegros acceptence into FIFA as soon as poss so they can fit them into the 2008 qualifiers. THey will basicall be shoved into one of the smaller groups. Got a vague memory of hearing about some arguments about who represented them in the eurovision song contest. If that's the case then you'll probably get a fair few of the local players doing what the fan's want and playing for montenegro, although it's a pretty small place.

Think Montenegro has been declared an independent country acknowledged by the UN. It already uses the Euro, so will probably join the EU before long. The old Milan star from the mid 90's Dejan Savicevic...is the most famous Montenegrin player, and is/was head of their FA. (doubt because Savicevic is a bit volatile) |
