1. We have a proper pre-season. I.e. play some league teams

2. During said pre-season Iffy gets the payers mega-fit using modern techniques ie. dont just get them to run a long way repeatedly. He seems to have this in hand with his request to get a sports scientist in and training sessions with Olympic standrad athletes.

3. Some new players please. Austin Power to provide larger wage bugdet than this season. Centre back x 2, Centre mid, Right mid, Keeper (depends if Rhys stays as to how good he needs to be) possibly a striker too depending on Roberts state of mind and how good Cureton thinks he is at that point

4. Sell Jerel Ifill. I've had enough. Someone experienced,solid and with a concentration span longer than that of a goldfish to replace him please

5. The Peaconator to get his knee sorted and to play like the legend he is. Make him captain, 25 goals please.

6. Iffy to assemble a fit, strong, quick, hard working side. I really dont care about playing "football". I'd like to see 11 players play they're fucking hearts out for 90 minutes with full commitment. I'm of the opinion that we would do well in league 2 playing in that fashion

This showed last season with the brittle confidence. heads went down too easily. An experienced "old head" central defender would be nice to scream instructions at the rest of the defence. With Paul Smith to do the same in midfield.

10. The town end starts serving beer at halftime on some sort of mobile bar behind the goal

11. Bring back the Robinettes. but make them legal and fit

12. As we cant get beer in the TE, (cheer RobT - its all your fault :x  :wink: )  follow amirs suggestions and pass a bylaw legalising weed. At least we wouldnt be able to remeber the league 2 hoofball :doobie:

Cureton has talent, no doubt about that - but he dosnt work hard, will never win a header EVER and is as strong as a 5 year old girl. He is also a "scorer of great goals rather than a great goal scorer"

I'd rather have someone with less talent but better physique and work rate.

I'd always favour the "Peaconator" over Curo anyday, although Peacock also has a lot to prove on his return.

Spuddy, hate to burst your bubble, but selling alcohol in the TE would be illegal and as I sit next to an ex Robeinette at work, I can confirm they have no plans to come out of retirement.

ridiculas! youd rather a striker with better physique and work rate than a goal scorer (which weve got)? i dont give a fuck about curetons physique if hes scores loads. hes small and thats the end of it. its as if you expect him to beat peter crouch with a header. work rate. nothing iv seen of cureton to suggest that he doesnt work hard. the only reason people find a hatred for cureton is because of his comments about wanting to leave for a higher division and for missing nearly a sitter a game in the last games of the season. every striker misses sitters but any fool can see cureton in league 2 in a swindon shirt will be very good for us.

I'm sure they'd be in their 20's now.

Licensing laws prohibit the sale of alcohol to be consumed in area within sight of the pitch.

Because the only spot in the TE which is enclosed is the little shack thing pretending to be a footstand, there isn't anywhere for people to stay with a beer.

Only football that this law exists, all other sporting occasions you can drink within sight of the pitch.  Another hangover from the ugly days.  It took long enough to get the sale permitted in grounds at all I think.

Can't sell it in Stratton Bank either.

I stand by my points. His lack of height and strength makes him a totally one dimensional player. Allbeit that the dimension he does have he is quite good at (does that make sense?) I'm also not so sure I'd classify him as a "goalscorer" At times this season he took the harder chances whilst missing the easy ones. he's a flair player more than a goalscorer.

I've no hatred for Cureton, and like you say I think he would score goals given service in L2. But I think we could well be a better TEAM without him.

I don't dislike Cureton and I think he's the kind of player who will always miss twice as many sitters as he scores(something that obviously became more apparent in a team that created very few chances).  Even so I think the writing is on the wall for him and he should go.

Some good ideas there piemonte, maybe legalise weed in the town end as well and install me a reclining comfy chair.  Keep Ifil though yeah :winking:

But you need to read the game and make decisions as a sweeper. Ifil has enough to do trying to recover from his own mistakes in both the above :wink:

you must be joking! ifil would be the worst sweeper ever. the best games he's had in a town shirt have come when he's given a man marking job.

For example when he marked Lita out of the game last season against City.

As for Curo I think he will be dangerous next year if he stays. He scored 14 or 15 this year so what's to stop him next season. Plus him and Peacock are an ideal partnership with their different attributes. And anybody who says Curo doesn't work hard should spend a match watching him and see how much he gets about the pitch. He didn't get much of the ball last year because we were crap and had no service to the forwards!

ifil's only worthwhile attribute is his man-marking ability. sadly, it's pointless to man-mark someone every single game unless they're an extremely dangerous player. he's useless at everything else, so get rid.

cureton's work rate is non-existent, he only chases balls when he can be bothered and rarely tracks back. peacock has worked his bollocks off for the team when he's played, a substitute appearance a few weeks back showed that when he ended up tackling someone at right-back. that's the sort of committment i want to see, not some midget who shouts his mouth off in the press when things don't go his way.

i can't believe you think iffy's idea of bringing in a fitness expert is a 'token gesture'. that's absurd.

If he cant do it in this league, he cant do it in the one below.

There is no gap in class, We lost to three League  Two teams this year....and got beat by 2 of the 4 that came up last season....1 of which finished as Champions....one in 6th...the other two mid table...

I have to also disagree with the ifil bit. Jerel has been the only defender this season that hasnt been afraid to get stuck in and make those all important tackles when the others just stood their like lemons and then we typically concede. He's a very strong player with alot of height. I know he's not perfect and does make the occasional mistake during the game, but I would'nt take the risk of losing him. His performance might improve next season.

I am absolutely astounded at everyone coming to Ifil's rescue. He's desperately poor...

Absolutely DV - that's what really worries me about next season. Teams that go down to L2/come up to L1 quite often go thru each division like a dose of salts - in both directions. Swansea, Southend, Torquay, Stockport, Rushden. Just staying as we are will not be good enough next season - we need to improve.

Paul - I am totally conviced it cannot get worse

- existing team knows each other better
- a few wise heads in the playing staff
- people who don't want to play for Town would have fucked off
- good youngsters coming up
- an injection of cash

I'm actually looking forward to it - this time last year we didn't have a team!
