Title: Rotherham points deduction Post by: Dorset Red on Saturday, May 13, 2006, 20:40:42 Rotherham have taken their ten point penalty today after successfully postponing their creditors meeting from last week. I feel that the Rotherham board have played a blinder by using the league rules to their advantage to avoid relegation. Hartlepool fans must be gutted. They would have stayed up if the meeting had gone ahead when originally planned! :x

Both Bury and Macclesfield, have been hit by financial problems recently and could well struggle next season. Although Bury have signed Bishop from York, reckoned to be the best in the Conference whereas we're signing McPhee and Benji. McPhee had a spell in the Confernce none too successfully. Title: Rotherham points deduction Post by: reeves4england on Sunday, May 14, 2006, 12:32:51 We would find some loophole allowing us to be relegated 3 divisions and accidentally point it out to the League if it was us. Thats what STFC is all about surely?!
Title: Rotherham points deduction Post by: Bedford Red on Sunday, May 14, 2006, 13:58:54 I know they probably weren't thinking this way, but I think it might have been more sensible for Rotherham to take the 10 point deduction before the end of the season, get relegated and then try and have a go for promotion next year.
Sounds a bit daft, but now they're starting on minus 10 points, they look like they will probably go down anyway as they've not got any money to buy players etc. So crowds might not be that good as fans think "what's the point" and they strugggle. This time next year they could be preparing for League 2. Whereas they could have taken the hit now, give promotion a go from League 2 this year, and could benefit from higher crowds etc if they do well. A gamble I know; but short term pain could be long term gain. Daft; or anyone else agree with me?
