Title: Cureton....and probably others.
Post by: Johno on Thursday, May 11, 2006, 16:39:43
i am on a rant on, not a long one as i can't be bothered to type much as usual.

reading curos column...he says something along thelines of 'if the chance comes to play at a higher level i will ake it, i don't want to be playing at league two level'

one word.....knob. i hate the players that are going to be going up a division and us still being in league two. there the ones that have taken us down and they leave, just annoys me.

discuss

if i were curo i would want to leave, left on the bench and abused by his own supporters.he has undoubted quality and i would be sad to see him leave.he and peacock i feel would me a fine pairing in league 2

i think abusing him was probably over the top, but i am just getting annoyed. o hanlon for example, he is waiting for clubs to come get him and will wait another week. to me it sounds like he wants to leave.

agree, cant blame o'hanlon, though it would be nice to get things cleared up asap so replacements for the wantaways can be found

Thats why i like Andy Johnson at Palace, was part of the team that got relegated stayed in the Championship for a season, now if he goes this summer its understandable

He's abused by the supporters because he's such a prick and although scoring them goals he's a lazy fuck when it comes to his position on the pitch. I say fuck him, piss off to rovers if he wants.

Curo can fuck off for all I care. He's a good player but if his heart isn't in the club (and it clearly hasn't been) then he needs to go.

Their chairman wouldn't let him leave though, he did hand in a transfer request at one point.

Always rated Curo. Legend in these parts, although he was lazy! You need players who are 100% sure that STFC is where they want to be so if he wants to go then best thing is for him to go.

Mate of mine had curos autograph tattooed on his calf after he scored at Brentford  then he later signs for you! Looks like he might escape a ribbing next season though

I have never liked the lazy little tosser, he has never once shown he wanted to be here, even in the early days of his contract.  While I feel the abuse he got was wrong (the players were all as shit as each other that day) his constant barely-veiled whingeing in his Adver column, his little trip to Reading to join in the promotion fun and his comments about not wanting to play in League 2 next season when he is part of the team that got us there (congratulations guys, sterling effort) has really made my mind up - I really would like him to leave as he clearly never wanted to be here.  Oh, and he quite clearly needs lessons on how to take a penalty.

Rant over.   :soapy tit wank:

Sorry, got carried away there! ... It just really bugs me how people suddenly started worshipping the ground he walked on as soon as he scored a couple of goals (conveniently overlooking all the missed sitters)!

Title: Cureton....and probably others.
Post by: Arriba on Friday, May 12, 2006, 09:16:29
i just think he is a decent striker who will score us goals in league 2.not a case of worshipping at all.agree his comments have been controversial but at least he tells it how it is and doesn't talk any old bullshit to butter fans up.

Post by: Forza_Swindon on Friday, May 12, 2006, 09:42:23
But in such a physical league as league 2, surely the midget is going to get trampled on all the time?  I don't think we're going to be able to play to his strengths next season, even if I did rate him I would say it will probably be more difficult for him next season as Hoofball will be the order of the day.

give him a break until the season starts. you cant predict how he's going to play in league 2 until it happens

league one and two arent that different....

If he couldnt score goals in league one, he wont score them in league two

Id rather Jutkiewicz played, he puts himself about and despite his young age has a bit of physical presence

I agree with that, but if he doesn't want to 'butter the fans up' then why in fucks name does he guest on soccer night and have an adver column? Could just lie low and get on with it.

Post by: Spencer_White on Friday, May 12, 2006, 17:43:47
I can only agree with everything before.

Cant believe hes got the cheek to say hes too good for League 2. If he had scored a couple more tap ins we might have had another 4 points and stayed up. And after all that the fans still backed him on the whole, sang his name. But noooooo, curo's far too good. He's played the vast majority of his career in the 2nd division for fucks sake, one season in the 1st, on the bench for QPR!!!! Never been a quality player, never played in the top flight, never earnt/deserved/had success. In a word, you're a joke.

Players treating this club like shit has become a cancer in our ranks.

Sounds like a cunt in that article but remember, it's a job for these guys and it is also abput making the best of the oppurtunities that come their way.

Don't begrudge the guy for having ambition and a desire to achieve as much as he can with his short career. You can bet you bottom dollar that if the club wanted to sell him he couldn't turn around and say "Don't sell me, I want to stay"

Players are commodities some times and as such will always look for the next oppurtunity as they know that next month they could be shipped out.

If we don't sell him over the summer I believe that he will be professional and will do his best to score goals for us, which given his ability should be quite a few..

That is about all you can ask in this day and age.

Shearer, Ndah,Parkin, Mooney, Fallon. All players who when playing well and scoring looked like they loved the town as much as we all do. But they all mooved on, one way or another.

I remeber when Fallon scored the winner against Wednesday in the Cup last year. He ran to the Nationwide and looked liked he had just had a shag for the first time. Really looked like he was town through and through. Just goes to show!

That is all!

I'm torn on this one. On the one hand he has scored about 14 goals this year and look slike a decent player. On the other hand, he has missed sitters and sounds like a cock.

I would b ehappy to see him stay but if he goes I wil just be looking forward to a hard-working replacement

His attitude stinks. Yes, I can uncerstand him wanting to play at a higher level but there's no reason why you're still employed by a club to shout it from the rooftops.

The management stuck by him when he wasn't scoring and you do get the impression that the loan deal was more to keep him happy than get him scoring again. It looked like he wanted to leave us back then.

Title: Cureton....and probably others.
Post by: Forza_Swindon on Monday, May 15, 2006, 08:03:38
I can understand him wanting to play at a higher level too (and yes of course he shouldn't be banging his drum and shouting about it) but aside from off-the-pitch issues, has he really shown he deserves the opportunity?  I think not.   The little twat has an over-inflated opinion of himself - but I'm not going to get into this rant again!

Post by: fatbury on Monday, May 15, 2006, 09:00:52
I personally think he has already decided to leave .. since Iffy has been manager .. he has sent him out to Colchester ... only brought him back as we sold Fallon .. and then left him out in favour of two young strikers who have NEVER scored a league goal between them

I mean wouldnt u want to leave if McPhee was getting in instead of you .. I think we havent appreciated Curo as much as we should have ... and he will go on and score 20 or so goals at another club

Post by: Bushey Boy on Monday, May 15, 2006, 09:42:33
For Fuck Sake.  He hasnt said he wants to leave, hes being honest.

I saw him after the Franchise game at home, he was gutted walking along like he had just been expelled from school.  When I spoke to him he was gutted we had blown it and said he is trying his best.  I think he is the best striker we have at the club and people on here should realise that instead of slating him.

Siome town fans want us to be failures, im sure of it.

Title: Cureton....and probably others.
Post by: Forza_Swindon on Monday, May 15, 2006, 12:45:35
I was referring to the part where you said some people wanted Swindon to fail actually....

I would say him NOT scoring some of the penalties/sitters contributed to our relegation (obviously the lack of defence was a greater failing but everyone has to take a share of the blame IMHO).

Title: Cureton....and probably others.

they couldnt play together though could they.thats not fallons fault but its swings and roundabouts if we had fallon ,cureton wouldnt of scored his 7 goals and vise versa.i think we would of gone down with fallon anyway so 300k isnt all bad because you got to admit there is no chance he would of stayed now

but we didnt need midget man to score goals because Fallon was scoring goals.

All ifs and buts...but if Fallon didnt go then Cureton wouldnt have scored his 7....but if Fallon had stayed and kept on form...he would have scored another 12....which is more than 7.

300k isnt all bad, but relegated has cost us 200k...so it isnt exactly all good....thats 100k....not taking into account Barnsleys percentage either.

There is no chance he would of stayed, but a better chance of him scoring more goals than midget man + peacock + benjamin + mcphee

yeah i agree,i suppose it doesnt send a good signal to the rest of the players if your prepared to sell your top scorer when your strugglin.hands were tied i suppose..on a positive note im confident peacock will deliver.his work rate was amazing and that was when he needed a op on his knee interesting to see what a fit peacock could offer, and paul smith aswell..looks more promising when you think of it like that
