T'is a Shame, for the best really though...given he is probably on a fair wage and has an appaling injury record.

Glad to see the back of Bulman, might get a proper reserve keeper now. Or do we rely on the youth team 'keeper?

No, I doubt they're the only ones too. Looks like Iffy is starting to do the best for this team - rip the majority up, boot them out of the door, and start again ...

actually just reading that page worries me greatly

We are offering Rhys a 1 year deal which is a joke .. Nicho and Jenks deserve 1 year but also deserve to play a bit more - Iffy moved Nicho into centre back and then drops him for not performing .. ridiculous

Paul Smith would be a good signging for another year ... but losing Migz is a blow ...

MCPHEE!! what is there to talk about?? HES SHITE!!

If we get rid of Bulman who will be the keepers??
Needing 2 instead of 1

and why oh why is Henry and Stroud only getting 6 month contracts when they BOTH deserve the same as Holgate and Wells .. tho i have to say im not sure that Wells deserves a year

THe biggest worry is that Iffy has made these decisions which means it seems likely he will still be the manager next year .. which is a disaster waiting to happen ..

Well Iffy said he wants to bring one maybe two keepers in so i guees it depends on if Rhy leaves.

The page doesn't say if Rhys' deal is one year, though. I know the initial offer was, but there's no reason to believe they didn't offer more today.

It don't say how long we have offered Rhys.

Its sad,but considering all his injuries, which have led to inconsistent form, it was the only option :( .Anyway good luck Stef you've been a great servant to this club, the one player who no matter what would come over and applaud the fans its been appreciated, best of luck for the future mate :)

Length of contract with Evans might be because of his hints at not liking the prospect of League 2 next season.  He might not be very happy to sign a long contract with us being in the bottom league.

The youths being signed up is cheap as chips, so no complaints.  I presume the 6 month deals are for the ones that have least 1st team experience, they have extension options built in.

All sounds good to me.  Rest of the team are in contract or accepted deals already I think.

5 going, plus 2 likely departures plus potentially Cureton if a higher league team comes in for him.  We were already 2-3 players short (given the fact we had 3 on loan).  yoou can't replace much more than that, otherwise we'll be in the same situation as last season.  That's a potential 11 player change around.

I'm glad that Iffy appears to have made it clear to the players that they must make decisions now rather than later.  Thats exactly what he needs to do.

Wouldn't be surprised if Migz goes back to America & plays in the MLS. He's getting married out there in the summer so will probably stay closer to family.

I really hope we don't sign McPhee, he hasn't looked like scoring at all.

Not too worried about the 'keeper situation, there are always loads released in the summer by Prem clubs. If not then we could get one on a season long loan or something.

 Yep, get it sorted out now,so at least Iffy can make other plans and bring in more players if needs be.
I can't believe that Nicholas has been offered a new deal :o

Offering him one year is a nonsense, if he signed and we had a nothing season next year(obviously a distinct possibility), then he would find himself in a much worse position than he is currently.  Hopefully they've offered him two years today, then at least he'll have a proper chance to decide whether he really wants to be here.

Migs I feel needed to go, which is a shame after his first two seasons.  He eventually became the injury-prone player we were worried he was when he first signed.

I'm happy migz is going, it's for the best really as he can go on and play for another club which he might do well at. I'm shocked that Laphams going as i always rated him, were going to need another GK and LM as Buleman and Nicolau is going. Henry and Stroud should have the same as Holgate and Taylor but we don't know why the club has done what they've done. Whats the situation with Caton and Lucas J, are they going or staying?

I think Caton & Jutkiewicz still have a year or 2 to go on their youth contract

overall then...

signed new contracts:
Jerel Ifil
Jack Smith
Michael Pook
Charlie Comyn-Platt
Ashan Holgate
Ben Wells
Leigh Henry - 6 month deal
David Stroud - 6 month deal

offered new deals:
Rhys Evans - unlikely to stay as unwilling to play in L2
Sean O'Hanlon - will stay unless gets a better offer
Steve Jenkins - set to sign
Andy Nicholas - seems to be delaying signing, perhaps hoping for his 'big' move?
Paul Smith - likely to remain at the club

existing deals:
Andy Gurney
Jamie Cureton - too big for the club/too good for L2
Aaron Brown - as above
Lee Peacock - unlikely to go anywhere
Gareth Whalley - keen to stay at the club
Christian Roberts - providing he stays sober

loan players:
Chris McPhee - may be offered a deal, Iffy will probably look at his other options first
Trevor Benjamin - career change to bicycle courier
Toumani Diagouraga - playing for Watford in the Premiership next season?

released:
Stefani Miglioranzi
Nicky Nicolau
Matt Bulman
Kyle Lapham
Chris Taylor

Still no idea about Shakes though.

Taking the above into account and assuming all the players offered a contract accept the terms offered, this will be our squad - minus any new signings - for next season.

GK:
Evans

Defenders:
Ifil, J Smith, Comyn-Platt, Gurney, O'Hanlon, Nicholas, Jenkins, Henry (youth)

Midfielders:
Pook, Whalley, Brown, P Smith, Stroud (youth), Wells (youth)

Strikers:
Cureton, Peacock, Roberts, Holgate (youth)

Far too many of the current squad if you ask me, out of that lot I'd only keep Evans, Comyn-Platt, Whalley, P Smith and Peacock.

Good God NO! :jaw2:

What was his record? 39 goals conceded in 19 games and just 1 (or was it 2) clean sheet!!!!!!!!!? Compare that with Rhys's 31 goals in 31 games.
Why on earth do you want a second rate keeper? Let's go out and spend a little money to get a good one!

Getting rid of Migz = big mistake..

Our best midfielder and the only one who can pass the fucking thing. Also gets stuck in alot more than people give him credit for.

Mistake....big mistake.....not happy with that, at all

Shit defence in front of him.Showed good potential in my opinion and Rhys goals against column aint none too impressive. And what are the chances of us getting a really"good one"?

I know what you mean. I think he signed a few days after the other 3, but by then he had been called up to the T&T squad, so more fuss was being made about that.

shame about migs really....can be the best player in this team, but can understand why iffy is moving him on.

jenkins, smith, nicholas...he seems to want to keep the bulk of the squad, and with getting rid of bulman he must be confident about evans.

Away at Franchise we would have been have 5 down if it hadn't been for Heaton. If we could get him on a free would be well worth a 3 year deal.

I'd echo the general vibe about Migz a class player but with injuries on top of the more physical nature of the league it's probably for the best he gets a fresh start.

Very impressed though with the speed things appear to be getting resolved and the communication coming from the club is a hundred times better than pre-season last year.

There at least looks to be a decent frame to that squad that with some clever additions it could make for a fairly versatile squad.  A few gaps for Iffy to fill, again probably midfield being a priority and I’d like to see a bit of a brick outhouse with some experience at the back but all in all there’s some grounds for optimism.

Glad we’ve got the vagrant for another year as well.    8)

Can't understand why Stroud isnt being given a longer contract.
Real shame that Migs wont be staying. My favorite player and was generally a great servant to the club. Awesome player, despite the injuries.
Can't see why Wells is being given a longer contract....Couldnt see anything too special in him. Just another Michael Pook.

Wouldn't mind seeing Diagouraga signing on permantly, but McPhee? Don't go there Iffy....Theres plenty of better strikers than him, who will be on free's this pre season.

Harsh IMHO. He had a few wobbly games, but for his age he did well to recover from those and do quite well.  What the stats don't  show is that the squad improved after Heaton left.

Evans is the better keeper, and if he stays all well and good. But there are plenty worse yet more experienced keepers than Heaton.

Migs is shite.

Good riddance.

Has been a passenger for the last two seasons.

At his best he is top-of-the-Championship standard, at worst he is not even Conference.
