as far as i'm aware and with the help of some news sources, this is the current contract situation.

new contracts - ifil, jack smith, pook and comyn-platt

one year remaining - gurney, cureton, brown, roberts(?), nicolau(?)

two years remaining - peacock, whalley

out of contract - evans, miglioranzi, shakes, paul smith, o'hanlon, jenkins,

youth players - caton, jutkiewicz, wells, bulman, stroud, henry, holgate

Who's going to stay out of those then?

Evans - A possible, again not sure if there will be the interest unless he wants to perhaps fight it out as 2nd choice somewhere else.

Miglioranzi - Gone

Shakes - Will sign up

Smith - A cert if reports are right

O'Hanlon - Gone

Jenkins - Released

evans will probably stay as we can afford to meet his 'demands', some vague effort will be made to retain seano but he will choose to leave (probably after meeting us on tues night) and smith's future will depend on his fitness.

stef's as good as gone by his own admission, shakes has been disappointing and will probably get released and jenks will have to pick up his cardboard box and shuffle along elsewhere.

Do you think Shakes is on the way then, hasn't he already been offered a contract?

Good old Jenks though it feels like having to get rid of a stray cat that's turned up.  Can we keep him just for another year?

can't see shakes staying, he's been dropped a few times by iffy and doesn't seem to be featuring lately. perhaps he got a bit too big for his boots when the t&t stuff started.

if this was fm, i'd give jenks a contract just to have him around to make the place look untidy.

Youth playerwise I'd guess that iffy will probebly keep most of them, mainly because his relationship with the youth team.

Big worry is keeping on Caton. Yes he was pretty good at the level he played, but he's been injured for a year and might not be able to get over it.

i think now's the oppurtune time to cut off the chaff we don't need for next season and not offer people contracts just for the sake of having shite players.

i'd definitely like to see nicho fuck off back up there to his caravan

Anyone who thinks they are too good should go.  The same players got us relegated, so if they think they are too good then think again.  I don't want arrogant players next year I want hard working honest ones.

If we have Jerel at the back, Smith and Whalley in midfield and Peacock up front then we should build the team around them.

Roberts with his head in the right place would be an asset, if not then he needs a new club.

Silly boy. That response only works when there are none.

How about a couple at Forest for a start .. where he stood and watched his man have a free header?

Ok, thats one games and a bad example, because Ifil wasnt alone in being shit that day. The whole team were....lets also not forget Ifil was man marking Tyson who scored 0 goals that game.

Where as their right winger scored a hat trick....now who was supposed to be marking him, Ifil as well?

Poor judgement and poor memory is a bad combination. Read the original thread again. That last argument of yours didn't stand up then either.

Didn't they score freely from set pieces? Nicho was assigned to mark Tyson but at half time had to swap with Ifil to try to stem the flow of goals via Ifil's mistakes.

Do you really want a parade of Ifil's cock ups??

Try the Doncaster away game.
Quote from: "The Adver"

(5) Jerel Ifil
Beaten for pace for the goal, erratic distribution and ended the night heading for an early bath.

His only asset is his pace and even that deserted him that night.

That wasnt a mistake from Ifil, he was just beaten for pace by Forte....which is different from making a mistake

I don't think Ben Wells is being offered a new contract. Well according to a mate who knows him anyway....
He's pretty shit though, to be fair.

DV, why do you think Aaron Brown won't be here next season? He still has 2 years left on his contract, in any case and i wouldnt have thought many clubs would be looking at him just yet as he hasn't played many games, due to injury. Plus i couldn't see Iffy wanting to sell him.

Really struggling now aren't you!?!

Yes I was at the game
Yes I did see the goal
Yes he made a huge mistake - by leaving Forte too much room - a prime example of him not reading the game.

From todays adver...

Quote
This isn’t the end
2nd May 2006

SEAN O’HANLON insists Town’s relegation will not inevitably trigger his County Ground exit although he is keen to see the extent of the club’s ambition to bounce straight back into League One at the first attempt.

The skipper has yet to commit himself to a new deal at the club and there is no doubt other sides will be monitoring his contract progress over the coming days and weeks.

O’Hanlon is ambitious and wants to test himself at the highest possible level but that doesn’t mean he will refuse to ply his trade in the Football League’s lowest level next season.

Bill Power’s imminent arrival at the County Ground will inject fresh investment into the club, including a boost for the manager’s playing budget, and O’Hanlon is ruling nothing in or out with the relegation wounds still very fresh.

He said: “The manager said after the game that we hadn’t lost it there (Bristol City). Over the course of the season we just hadn’t been strong enough. We’ve had a very young side, we’ve all gained experience from this and the goal now is to bounce back.”

The big question is whether O’Hanlon will be around to help Town escape from the ‘basement’ when the 2006-7 campaign kicks off in early August?

He said: “There’s only a couple of us left to sign (O’Hanlon and goalkeeper Rhys Evans) and I think (further negotiations) it’ll go on in the next week or so. We’ve still got some decent players here and I think we’ll be favourites to bounce back.”

On a personal level, O’Hanlon says it is not a simple case of being happy to compete in League One yet repugnant at the prospect of taking the drop.

He will consider all options, but certainly isn’t rushing for the exit.

He said: “No, not at all. I’m Swindon Town player, I love the club, I’m settled. I suppose it’s a bit of a Sam Parkin situation.

“It’s about ambitions and if a bigger club comes in then you have to consider it. But at the moment I’m negotiating with Swindon Town.”

Deputy chairman Mark Devlin has already held a number of meetings with the player’s agent and a further discussion is expected to take place in the next few days.

O’Hanlon and Evans are the two big hitters that manager Iffy Onuora is keen to keep on board and while he hopes both men will still say ‘yes’ in the light of relegation, he is looking to clear up the remaining contract issues in the next week, before the players depart for their summer break after the final match of the campaign against Huddersfield.

The respective futures of players including Stefani Miglioranzi, Steve Jenkins and Kyle Lapham have still to be addressed.

Onuora said: “I might have a couple of chats this week. Most of the players, particularly the ones out of contract will be aware of my intentions and the process has to start straight away.

“The fans pay good money and you feel for them. They’ve backed us all the way and it’s important to send out a message to them that the fightback starts as soon as we possibly can
.”

Errr....no Sean.  :|  Sam was the best player in the side three years running, you on the other hand have been distinctly average most of the time, with the odd good game here and then.

Still, good to see he hasnt given up on us...unless of course he is going to do a Grant Smith.

EDIT: Having read that back, that sounds very anti-O'Hanlon... I am not and I for one hope he stays.

i'll be sure to persuade seano to stay next season tonight, unless birdy scares him off.

joking aside, i think he's being sensible in keeping his options open - he should be able to find another club in league one and despite having a relatively poor season, i personally feel he's still a decent player.

personally i wouldn't keep him though.
