Does anyone else think we're be the biggest club in that league?

I'm not saying football wise, i mean by history, ground, finance, support etc...

I can only think of Rovers and Notts County as maybe equal?

we will be, we were in the premiership. rovers have nothing, notts county not really. rovers would def beat us on finance!

Yes I think we'll be the biggest. Definately. The only club thats ever been in the premiership too. We have a history to be proud of.

I was looking at the league and can't think of any team bigger than us.

Oxford are a 'fairly' big club for that league but their be down  :mrgreen:

Biggest club in that league this season by far is Carlisle.

we have a great history,but unfortunaty that means fuck all.we are the only former prem team to drop through the divisions.our crowds next season will be the way to judge how big a club we are in my opinion.

All depends on success on the field.

We could easily get an average crowd of 6k-7k if at the top of the league.

tbh got to ne the biggest team unless Franchise get relegated as in there [reviour guise wimbeldon had a few decent seasons in the prem but accrington stanley were the subject of a national advertisment campaign. im not sure what my point is any more  :beers:

We may well be the 'biggest ' club, but what is infinitely more important is living up to the billing.

No....Bury for example if they stay up have won the FA Cup twice.  Including a record score....the likes of Lincoln City have had more seasons in and around the second tier than us.

 If Grimsby don't go up, they've had stacks of seasons in the top flight.....

  We.ve go tinto L2 because as a club we are operating at that sort of level and in many ways non league level.

 The injection of Power's cash has maybe staunched the spiral that would see us struggling to stay in the league next season.....but we'll just have to see on that.

 Bury have won the league we're leaving more recently than us.

 We need to accept that we're a small club, and are in L2 because that is what our crowd size a resources decree.....firstly it will be tough to stay in it and to get out of it, will need a major change in the way the club is run from top to bottom..

i believe we will struggle to get out of L2 first attempt but but PMA reg, we are gonna do it!

Big club, small club, whatever, we have the POTENTIAL fan base to be a comfortble championship club, with the corret direction.

You need to beware the we're too big for this league crap....its what the scum have been doing for about 7 seasons now, living in a fantasy land where they're promoted by Christmas.

 It tends to have an insidious effect, so, for example the manager who came closest for them Atkins was hounded out by fans who thought they were better than his hoofball style.

 To turn us around may take a while firstly the CVA needs sorting and getting rid of, then some progress needs making on the CG front, to firstly get an agreement then see some substance....until then we've no hope of going anywhere quickly.

I agree with Reg, Things need to change at this club before we can get back up and solidify. Next season the aim should be top half and to get a ground sorted

I also have to agree with reg. It's very easy to draw similarites to our current situation to that of when we got relegated down to div 2. Everyone was excited about the Brady investment and there was a general feeling we'd do pretty well. Of course we didn't.

Opening game of the season was a pretty uninspiring 0-0 draw with colchester with the only highlight watching a pretty lively lua-lua. Of course things didn't get much better.

Don't get too carried away with this "first prem. club to go all the way down" stuff.

We only have that honour because we're the first to do it since the top division changed it's name to the Premiership. However, we are not the first club to go from the top division to the bottom. For example, Notts County used to be in the top division, as did Oxford, and I'm sure a certain club from Bristol managed to plummet down all four divisions long before we did!!!!!

City did do that, in 3 seasons, straight down. That was very impressive!

To be fair though Reg although it is history, the clubs you mentioned have been a lot lower than us in the last 30 40 years, like Bury's FA Cup wins in 1900 and 1903  :shock: over a 100 years ago before world war one ffs. But still I agree we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves, but certainly should expect to at least play at our historical level, which is league one. But as shown in the last 20 years or so we should really aim for the championship.

although I agree with Ralphus, certainly in my time we've always been alot high up the football ladder than the teams we now find ourselves surrounded by....but on that note....the size of club gets you nothing really

What i meant was we're a big club for that league.

We are fairly big as far as potential fan base goes. If we are doing well we can get much bigger crowds than some.
However I don't think it will make a huge overall difference to the football next season

we've had an average home attendance of 5,000ish all season, dropping below average on a few occasions. we've not won anything since 96 and even oxford have been in the top division and won the league cup as well.

depending on how power invests his money, we may be one of the better bank-rolled sides in league 2 though.

If you look at the average attendances for the most recently completed season, when we still had an outside chance of L1 PO's, our 5800 average is less than at least four  in L2 that season, and is about the same as Grimsby Lincoln and Notts County, none of whom had a decent season.

 Historically  relegation costs about 1000 fans ....so if we average about 4500 next season...that puts us in a bracket with the likes of Wycombe, Darlo, and Shrewsbury.

 There are a number of traditionally non league clubs like O*ford, Macclesfield, Boston, Cheltnum etc who will get smaller crowds than us.

I'd say we will be a big club for league two in the sense that we will be the last team to have played in the top division. I think teams are only really as big as the division they're in though.

Doesn't really make any difference anyway.

Not to mention Reading who it took several seasons to get to the championship despite Madjeski's invesment.

Even if things go well off the field it could take a fair time to get back to this league. In fact I remember some saying our relagation to leagu 1 could be just what we needed......

I reckon we are one of the bigger clubs. If you look at stadium size, League stadings in the last 16 years, history, away support then we are.  All things considered, we are one of the biggest, although Oxford would probably say the same, and look at them. :(
