Title: Big Sam, McClaren or Curbishley?
Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Friday, April 28, 2006, 18:42:35
Now that Scolari seems to have ruled himself out guess it is between these three again. Just wondering what the consensus was.

Big Sam for me, although McClaren has done well in Europe but to be honest I don't really like him. Not convinced Curbishley's ready.

Trevor Brooking as a sort of senior figure to deal with media etc,

Curbishley as the head coach and Stuart Pearce as number 2, learning the job and Mr Motivator.

I'm hard pushed but no one really appeals in the slightest.

Big Sam is great and I know he’s more of a long ball physical merchant type but it would still feel like Eddie Yates driving a Ferrari.

McClaren again is a good coach but has he the ability to get it right consistently like you need in an International manager?

Curbishley if you would have asked me 12 months ago I’d have had him in the lead but he seems like a weary man with the weight on his shoulders at the moment.  How would he cope with the attention of the England job?  I can see him ending up another Turnip head in just 6 short months.

Redknapp perhaps has the demeanour and front to at least do the job but he’s a pollyfiller manager.  Plugs the holes and saves the sinking ship he hasn’t ever managed to ever get beyond that with a side.

Pearce is just too inexperienced.

O’Neil for me but aside from the cup wins at Leicester what really has he achieved?  Managed to win the Scotch league with Celtic a few times doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence of International class.

Sod it stick with Eriksson. :?

Sam, for the reason he wants the job and will do well (like he did at bolton) and hopefully win the World Cup.

It's good to see Redknapp has got so many votes, I only put him down because I think he's a bit of a legend.

Stuart Pearce but he needs another 4-5 years at club level before making the step up.
