dave speaking as someone who has worked in clubs for years, i can imagine exactly how you would be at the door of my night and 9 times out of 10 i bet you wouldnt get in.

who would honestly want to be a doormen? you have to have a certain mentality to goto work every night not knowing if you were going to be glassed or worse.

due to the ne wlicensing laws everybody who enters a club must have picture id. this is what happens 8 or 9 times a night with people who have had alchol. i stand on the door and i hear the following conversation endlessly.

there isnt an arguement at the end of the day, the doormen of a club are only as good as the promoter, the promoter sets the guidelines for the doormen and if any of them step out of line they are sacked.

Holdup! was ace, though I can't remember the music, but generally in a club I don't notice the music.  Funky Buddha is a distant memory, though it was probably my least favourite of the 3 as it was so rammed.

The problem is in Brighton they're especially paranoid about trouble - whether before I started clubbing Brighton was especially dodgy, or if it still is but somehow I've kept my nose (relatively) clean, I don't know but either way they are paranoid.  Bouncers are a mixed bag, though in Brighton generally they're a bit stingy.  But then again, I think I'd be pretty stingy if I'd been talking to pissed people all night.  When you're not pissed, talking to pissed people is possibly the most annoying thing in the world.  Maybe the bouncers should have a few drinks?!   :mrgreen:
