Just heard on the radio, that the final 3 candidates to take over from Sven will be decided today. Who will it be?


My guess is....
1) Guus Hiddink
2) One from Allardyce/Curbishley/Pearce/McClaren
3) A surprise candidate....a foreign manager who hasn't been at the forefront of the speculation - Maybe Big Phil or Cappello

O'Neill will be the next England manager,  Hiddink has been tempted away by the russian rouble.  The other candidates lack the experience.

Big Phil doesn;t even speak english, I expect the FA wouldn't even go for that.

i think the final three will be o neill, curbishley and pearce. its hard though and i may change my mind

i want stuart pearce as manager of england,the most honest and  passionate of the lot of them.being a top experienced coach aint really required in my opinion,just some bugger to fire the players up and fight for the shirt on their backs.pearce for me is the perfect man to do that.

spot on arriba, the players have the ability they just need some belief.

don't see why everyone's suprised at the list. the FA have always said it will be an englishman.

 Think it was Piemonte who said  remember Kevin Keegan...all the passion in the world, unfortunately its not that simple...Keegan himself said he wasn't up to the job.

 What is needed is something like an Eriksson, calm and dispassionate.  If players aren't motivated by the three lions they shouldn't be out there, in which case the manager has got it wrong straight away.

  Winning the WC is about organisation and preparing the players mentally as well as physically....particularly with England it needs an experienced man.

If it has to be one of them, I'd go for Curbs.


Which could be terrible.

 The frightening thing is that....we've now got to a level in the rankings that works to our advantage....in terms of relatively easy qualifying draws.

 It took a while to repair the damage done by Graham Taylor in 94...who like these candidates was a worthy man with a good domestic record of working with  relatively small clubs, but next to no European experience and none even as a player to call upon.

 Curbishley and Allardyce are very similar.

fair comments about keegan but,pearce is a different man.who knows if it would work or not?whoever takes over will have alot to prove,i just like everything about pearce

I particulary liked Martin 'Mad Dog' Allen's response when asked who should be next England manager on Football Focus a few weeks ago.

He said: "I don't really know!"

Brilliant.  Rather than go crapping on pretending to be some fucking expert like we all do, he efffectively said on live tv that he did not have a fucking clue, just like none of us have.

Fair play to Mad Dog.
