Title: ipod broked Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Thursday, April 6, 2006, 18:35:49 13.7% is more like one in 7 not one in ten, which isn't great.
Also, seems it's as high as one in 3 for some of them but the newer ones are less which you would expect as they haven't had as long to go wrong. I'm thinking of getting a music player, either an ipod or one of the sony ones but it'll probably be one of the sony ones as I don't like the click wheel and they have longer battery life and seem better value. They just need to sort out the software but I don't like itunes anyway. For the ones that debuted less than a year half ago old the average seems to be about 20% failure and I don't think that's very good, a lot of those would've been a lot newer than one a half years, all depends how reliable the other music players are anyway. The only ones that look pretty reliable on there are the video ones but the survey was done less than a month after they debuted so that's way too early to tell.... That survey is a bit dodgy anyway though, it's a mac website so they're surveying people who love ipods etc. and they're not likely to be the ones who've had a load of ipods failing. You seem a bit defensive about the ipod, like they're somehow beyond criticism why? I'll just buy whichever one I think's the best. At the moment I think it's pretty close between the ipod and the sony ones but I'm not gonna rule either out. Title: ipod broked Post by: Forza_Swindon on Friday, April 7, 2006, 08:13:46 I have a sony walkman - the 20 GB one they released about 18 months ago, the version before the current one - and it's great! Battery life is fantastic and it's absolutely tiny (smaller than the new version).... I absolutely love it and prefer it to iPods as I don't really like the click wheel much (but perhaps that's down to lack of practice?)
Title: ipod broked Post by: strooood on Friday, April 7, 2006, 13:24:49 i loves the click wheel.
i got mine last may, worked fine till about 6 weeks ago when it stopped working, i sent apple an email, they sent someone round who collected it and i had a brand spanking new one delivered back to me within a week. cant really argue with that. can i say i couldnt give a bollocks who thinks what about what ipod zen gigabyte bonanza but ipods are proper bo. Title: ipod broked Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, April 17, 2006, 17:13:47 The connect player is shite. Just installed sonic stage so my bro can use his sony again now. Sonic stage is remarkably easy to use and all of it is pretty self explanatory. Had all the options set up in minutes.
