Title: Migz to stay?
Post by: Dazzza on Saturday, April 1, 2006, 19:57:15
Hope so, thought he was one that was heading for the exit door.

Quote
STEFANI Miglioranzi insists he wants to retain the tag of Town's longest serving player and fight to win favour once again.

The midfielder has been offered another year at the County Ground and would like to extend that by a further 12 months, based on appearances.

That is still for further discussion but the New Yorker says this is where he wants to be.

The last month has been tough for the 28-year-old, the midfielder finding himself on the sidelines as the survival scrap hots up.

For a man who has been a regular' for most of his four seasons at the club, it's not easy to deal with.

Not that Miglioranzi is a prima donna who takes the view that he is above being dropped.

No player is happy to be out of the team but the former Portsmouth man is both philosophical and honest.

He said: "I haven't played well enough to be a mainstay in the team.

"I'm kind of disappointed in myself for that.

"I want to be part of the fight but sometimes you have to take it in your stride.

"It's a tough position to be in, I'm not used to it and as I said, you have to get on with it.

"Fortunately I've had some good people behind me to get my head straight and point me in the right direction when I've needed it."

And there is no question of him now looking for the exit door.

He said: "I do want to stay.

"From my understanding and a contract offer having been made they (the club) want me to be here so there should be no problem.

"I had the letter from the club, pretty much around the same time as the other lads.

"My agent talked to them about tweaking it (the offer) a little bit.

"The money they offered was fine, it was just an issue of an extra year if I made a certain number of appearance, stuff like that.

"I've left my agent to it so I can concentrate on the football.

"I haven't heard anything back."

At least the midfielder can count his blessings on the injury front this year.

He said: "Fortunately, I've remained fit for the majority of the season.

"I had an ankle injury at the beginning of the year but it's been clear going apart from that."

Deputy chairman Mark Devlin said yesterday: "Negotiations continue with a number of players on the contracts front and I'm due to meet for further discussions with their representatives next week."

Really hope he does stay as he is an awesome player when on form, and yes it has been rare recently, but i'm confident he will once again find his form.
Stick him at centre back with Ifil, i reckon, as he played some of the best football we have seen from any centre back this season, when  he played there not so long ago, this season.

I think he used to play sweeper for Pompey so it's a good shout.

Like to see him get a few games there as when he has he was quite good a season or so ago.

Its a position he has played before, he played sweeper when we played Pompey a few pre-seasons back....Turbo scored a stunner.

Plus he played centre back at Rotherham (was fucking awesome, didnt get any credit because Evans was even more awesome) and the latter stages of Yeovil....goals conceded.....0

Cant believe what some people are saying, surely the people saying the negative comments are just provoking a reaction?

This season hasnt been his best, agreed but when he is at his best he is awesome almost untouchable, again agreed that he doesnt have enough of these games but for one of our best players to be called shit is bit stupid i think.

Even tho he hasnt had enough good games this season wud def say worth the risk of having him here next season!

Swindon Town trio Charlie Comyn-Platt, Jack Smith and Michael Pook have all signed new one-year deals.

Defender Comyn-Platt, 20, midfielder Pook, 19, and versatile 22-year-old Smith are all now under contract at the County Ground until the summer of 2007.

I don't know about migs really.....I think he's been quality in the past but this season he has not really been much of an asset and I feel sorry for him but he's had quite a few chances. He's stayed committed to swindon and has always been a fans favourite. I think we need to be realistic, we will either be battling for promotion in league 2 next season or trying to get a decent finish in the table of league 1 and would he fit into that ? I'm still undecided but I do like migs. It would be sad to see him go.

When you're a struggling team that's buggered on the field and off, you don't want players that are going to get injured every 5 minutes and invariably perform crap on their return (and for some time after).
