Not playing Gurney was a mistake.

Two non-defensive midfielders in Miglioranzi and Brown (a winger?!).

Therefore an already fragile defence had no protection from 3 strong, powerful and marauding forwards.

And consequently we shipped 7 goals but perhaps more poignantly, for the first time this season we looked like relegation potential (teams who get relagted usually ship goals for fun, a la Franchise).

i agree....but i think gurneys performance last week didn't help his decision.

Iffys hand was forced today, he didnt have alot of options....but the players were fucking awful. Quite possibly the worst Swindon performance I have ever seen

Considering most of the goals were from corners or crosses, i'd say that the midfield choice really didn't matter.

jack smith again was the defender that stuck out for me....

last week he walked into the centre too much and was easily ran past, it happened again today. jenkins next week please.

Marking at corners would go a long way next week.

I wasn't there but from the radio it sounded like the reasons we lost were:

Shit players/ lack of commitment
Poor management (both in selection and motivational half time teamtalk)
Poor/ non-evident marking of good players
Very poor defending
An inability to play our natural game, using the wingers
An inability to cope with going 1-0 down early.

It starts the downward spiral though because a non existant midfield  today let them charge through after 2 minutes and Ifil (yes, him again) was already on the back foot in a panic.

He was being encouraged and guided by Sean and Nicho all game but it made no difference ... he cannot handle it when they run from a distance because he has too much time to think and thinking is not his strong point.  He froze and then couldn't or wouldn't pick up their centre backs in the 6 yard box at set pieces either.

The writing was on the wall last week. The highlights showed him  flat footed and ball watching, costing 2 goals.

He bottled it today.  Jack Smith needs a more reliable defender inside him.

The weird thing is that we actually played good football in spells, passing the ball around and dominating. Then Forest would go up the other end and score a few.

How can you blame Iffy? We were just fucking terrible.

This powderpuff midfield with Migs and Brown in the middle must never be seen again. Migs is absolutely cack at the moment.

Agree with above that Gurns form and injury lead to him not starting mind.

Yeah, that's kinda true, but goals from corners really are just all down to poor organisation and marking.

You may not want to say, but how will a result tody affect Nicho and the rest of them? Will it upset and anger them that this has happened? I would guess (and hope) that it did, but i was just wondering like, since you have the inside info...

by the sounds of it we were lacking a tackling central midfield man and as much as i hate gurney ill admit he can tackle...hes just good to smash someone as soon as they get on the ball, CCP was out and so was Paul Smith....after saying that im sure the lads who did play could have got about abit even though its not their natural game.

i've never been ifil's biggest fan but i've lost nearly all patience with him now. he's far too much of a liability for a team in our position.

Each defender has to do his job. - got to pick up your man, be on your toes, attack the ball, get in first, no ball watching etc  - but you must have confidence in each other. Any doubts about a weak link will put you off. That's what was happening today and we were punished.

I'm probably going to get slated for this, but i thought Forest were the best side i've seen this season. I know, i know.....it's not like they had to be at their best to beat us.....we let them play......but Megson must have been fucking shit not to have that side in the top 2.

I agree in some ways.

I don't think any other team in this division would have scored 7 past us today.

Looking at the stats, they were the better side but not 7-1 style better.

On the other hand if u watch teams kick the ball towards your net you're screwed

Stop fucking bleating on about Ifil. Everyone was equally shit, including Nicholas and Sean, besides Ifils job was to track Tyson, so the set piece goals (plenty of them) cannot be attributed to him.
