Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: STFCere on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 18:52:54 poor poor and more poor. first 15 mins we looked much the better side, and i was confident that we would win comfortably. I thought before the game today we would thrash them, with the help of the bumper crowd. But no, after the 1st 15 we fell apart and rarely looked like scoring. Cureton and peacock were are only decent players, evans pulled a couple of good saves, o'hanlon did ok, midfield awful!!!!
evans 6 - what was he thinking on that last goal?!! smith 5- did ok ifil 6 - not his best but still better than his worst o'hanlon 5 - prob best defender today, although still not great nicholas 5- his throw is his entire game shakes 5- world cup?! what, as a ball boy? brown 4- not good enough poor control gurney 4- cannot wait to have p.smith back in there migz 5- not much of his good distribution. we need a battler in the middle ! cureton 7- some good moves, would score many more if given better service peacock 7- gets himself round loads, prob best player. marginally better than cureton SUBS roberts 4- slow, lazy, ineffective jarret 5- didnt even notice he'd come on for a while but some decent moves looks completley disinterested pook 5- no better than gurney again, disinterested. the future..... forest away gonna be v tough can't see us getting anything at their place tranmere - we always seem to struggle against them its gonna be tight...... Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: magicroundabout on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 18:55:49 you say O'Hanlon was our best defender yet gave him a 5 and Ifil a 6??? :?
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: STFCere on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 18:57:11 oops it woz ment to be a 6!
o'hanlon 6 - best defender ! Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: STFCere on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 18:59:09 we WILL get beaten at forest,
they're startin to pick up again, and of the back of a sacking results always improve they beat port vale away today Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Arriba on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 19:00:45 :fu:
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: dogs on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 19:02:32 The warning signs were there against Doncaster when Gurney came on for Comyn-Platt. The midfield is what makes our team relegation favourites to being safe. With Gurney and Miglioranzi in the middle I feel we will get relegated. However, luckily we have Paul Smith and Comyn-Platt who should be back soon, who seem to give us a midfield that can fight and create chances.

Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Sade on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 19:03:04 I don't think we will lose at forest, I think we will pick up atleast a point.
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: STFCere on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 19:04:25 i agree dogs, CP and P.Smith if they can stay fit will keep us up ! gurney was awful today completely ineffective, we'd be better off playing with 10 men than 10+gurney! migz isnt a battler either but good control and distribution, although not today!
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: dogs on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 19:09:09 Indeed. One hope I have is that Iffy seemed to realise this and took the shite off. Still we didn't have much better options with Pook and Jarrett. Pook isn't up to the standard and I feel we may need another battling midfielder as backup.
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: DV on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 19:09:45 dont forget the rest of the midfield. Shakes espically did nothing, Brown did next to nothing....
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Supercake2 on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 19:14:57 the midfield was piss poor unfortunately.
and pook why did he bother turning up? he's a youngster so i'll let that one go. but even at 2-1 we didnt look great. onwards on upwards though. Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Very true, but Brown was constantly drawn to cover for the central midfield. He still played shite mind. Shakes though did nothing and deserved to be subbed. Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Tails on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 23:43:06 If Curo and Peacock had any service we would have drawn/won. Rotherhams defence were pretty shaky although to be fair to them they kept us at bay.
The midfield lost it for us today. Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: rudeboydreas on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 23:46:27 Our 2 goals were pure luck (the first was a foul by Migz), we were lucky only to have a -1 on our goal difference. But it's a bad day at the office. Is there really any reason to boo the team?
At the end of the day, Rotherham came to win, to survive in their league and to survive as a club, we were just outplayed by a team whose league position didn't justify their quality (today at least). Having CCP back would be a bonus to the team I think. Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Tails on Sunday, February 19, 2006, 00:02:21 Luck? All 5 goals were down to bad defending.
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Sunday, February 19, 2006, 14:58:30 and goalkeeping for curo's goal
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Johno on Sunday, February 19, 2006, 15:02:08 i thought the keeper was fouled for our first. not complainig of course, but normally get a free kick for it.

Post by: Tails on Sunday, February 19, 2006, 15:16:55 ^^ Agree with the above. Never a foul.
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Spud on Sunday, February 19, 2006, 15:21:06 Yeah you cant challenge the keeper these days which is a joke!, so the goal should have stood as it did. :)
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: rudeboydreas on Sunday, February 19, 2006, 18:40:50 If we conceded a goal like that, the townend would be on the ref's case for the rest of the game because under modern rules, Stef was impeding the keeper.
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Tails on Sunday, February 19, 2006, 19:53:32 If we'd scored 4 we would have won yesterday.
Ifs and buts mean fuck all. Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: DV on Sunday, February 19, 2006, 19:56:12 Quote from: "Tails" If we'd scored 4 we would have won yesterday. Post by: Tails on Sunday, February 19, 2006, 20:16:23 Nah, we would have scored two goals in the very very last minute of injury time, no time for comeback.
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Stef Troll on Monday, February 20, 2006, 09:55:21 We lost to the better team. Sure we had a bit of an off day, but Rotheram were probably one of the best teams who've come to the County Ground this season. Sure we made some silly mistakes, but we all have off days. Just as long as we keep focus on the task in hand. SAFETY
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: reeves4england on Monday, February 20, 2006, 10:01:58 I didn't see the game and it annoys me how we only lose the games against crap teams with a big crowd.
But the good news is we are capable of getting out of this and I for one am quite confident we will. The result at Forest will mean nothing in terms of expectations imo, but I am hoping for a draw Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: le god cuervo on Monday, February 20, 2006, 10:23:59 ifil was at fault for the third goal, wasnt marking goal side & let butler run round the back of him. by the time he realised where he was he'd scored.
midfield let us down on the day but i think rotherham had done their homework on us. every time shakes or brown got the ball they were closed down quickly & didnt have chance to run like they did against gillingham. having paul smith back will make a big difference. Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Batch on Monday, February 20, 2006, 12:03:10 What is up with Migs. He looked a shadow of the player he can be. Is he fully fit?
Our central midfield two didn't do well enough, that lost us the game. Shakes and Brown are great when involved, but a bit luxery when we have our backs to the wall. Changing the midfield was the tactically correct descision by Iffy, but we didn't have the personnel to change the game. Come on PS and CCP, get fit soon. Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: Bennett on Monday, February 20, 2006, 13:44:18 not trying to make excuses as he was shite but the pitch didn't really condusive to slick passing
Title: thoughts on rotherham game.... Post by: McLovin on Monday, February 20, 2006, 14:24:46 All season he has been a yard off the pace, being constantly caught in possession or having to play it all the way back to Rhys. He just isn't up to the relegation dogfight, it would seem.
