Cotterill sacked. I got a lot of shit from City fans when I told them he wouldn't last the season.

Me too.

They have done almost everything wrong since winning L1.

I wonder if it is because Cotterill cannot persuade players to sign for them. Don't forget City were interested in signing Clough from Bolton a few days ago, but turned them down. You certainly don't let a manager try and sign a player for £1m+ if you're going to sack him a few days later. In the last window Gayle and Andre Gray turned them down in the last window, despite the clubs agreeing fees. Maybe the players meet Cotterill, thinks he's barmy and turns them down.

Personally, I think they knew they they'd never get Gayle and Gray but out it out there to appease the fanbase. Clough's rejection was a bit like when we tried to buy Joe Mason, 'why would I sign for a club going in the direction as my current employers?'

That said, I'm sure Cotterill has a reputation that would put many players off.

What is it with our local rivals having managers that the media like to portray as some kind of lower league Guardiola - first Howe and now Appleton?

Maybe not there but he'll be snapped up by a club bigger than Oxford (if that's possible.... Roll Eyes) before long.

I was thinking the same....

Of course, I suggested Appleton back in the summer, when it looked like Cooper was off to Wendies...

Appleton, might fit the bill.  The Scummers don't rate him as they're used to hoofball, and Appleton likes playing out from the back....

Appleton is not afraid to walk out on a club and it would be funny to see Oxford go through what we did when PdC left. Play off penalty shoot out loss would be a nice season end.

I think Nigel Pearson would be a good fit for City. Proven Championship record, kept Leicester up last year when it looked like they were doomed and takes no shit from fans with ideas above their station.

Maybe Mark Cooper will apply with his family connections!.

Oxford look a superb side unfortunately and based on what I have seen of them recently I expect them to piss the league ala STFC 11/12 and then have a decent crack at League 1 next season.

Long overdue for them I suppose and at least the derby will be back next season.

And Hendon from Orient, dropping like flies this morning.
