I think so much of Pratchett's work (especially Watch and Witch) is about the narrative inside characters heads - and in the case of Granny and Vimes - them being aware of the narrative inside their heads and the effect it has on their actions, like a cognitive behavior narrative. Doesn't translate well to screen.
Yet Mitchell & Webb did this quite well with Peep Show. Not on the same level of writing as Pratchett (granted) but managed to convey inner thoughts/actions onto screen successfully. It possibly only really works though if the viewer understands differences between having/not having an inner monologue/narrative. Some people just don't think either/it exists. We can most likely add The Mighty Boosh to this too as well as many more.

Peep Show is written by Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, not Mitchell & Web.

Agree Ben,wasn't too sure when it started, but was worth sticking with if you don't try to compare to the books too much and just want some light entertainment. Agree about Good Omens though. Followed your advice......Hmmmm!

I never said it was. I was stating that Mitchell & Webb conveyed the written work onto screen well. I've never done a table read of Peep Show but I'm sure the cast were pretty excited (M&W in the main) when they did the first one. Especially how they could bring those inner monologues into the show and make them believable (yes even in a comedic sense) to the viewer.

As i said mate,if you don't take it too literally,it is quite entertaining with a passing nod to Pratchett, some funny bits in it,although the characters are all wrong like you said. i don't think anyone could portrait Discworld in tv/film,as it's all down to the readers imagination,as Ben said.

Season 7 of Bosch. Superb stuff.
Finished that last night. Agree excellent. I came across a great Icelandic program, trapped. Great story and the scenery is stunning. I do love a bit of scandi noire.

Watched the first two episodes of Mare of Easttown last night, have to agree it’s looking good so far.
The Americans seem to have got these mini-series so right now, especially now that they have proper a-list movie stars in them.
True Detective (the first series in particular) & Big Little Lies another two examples. City on the Hill was also pretty good, although I haven’t watched series 2 yet

I get what you mean. The odd thing was that I watched because I knew the characters and didn't like it when the characters weren't right...Begrudgingly enjoyed bits. Was a bit too much like 'Legends of Tomorrow' in parts

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-5731747020 years ago! I remember when I first saw the office I actually thought it was a documentary! I know Gervais is pretty marmite but I think it's great television.
