I don't get the recommended 8 hours Kip each night, I will wake up early and stay awake. I thought you need less sleep as you get older? I could easily Kip for 10 to 12 hours when I was younger, especially after a night out.

Isn't there some theory that your sleep is a wave pattern which fluctuates between deep and light sleep? Depending on which part your in when your alarm goes off dictates whether you wake up feeling refreshed or knackered.

Yes, they are called "Sleep Cycles" http://www.mind-expanding-techniques.com/sleep-cycles.htmlSome useful info on waking up refreshed: - Sleep with a window open (On cold nights counterbalance this with central heating as temp is important) - Wear Ear plugs (noise during sleep is damaging to your heart) - Keep the curtains open. Natural light is best, especially when waking up. - Don't snooze, get straight out of bed. - Drink water before you go to bed and when you wake up. - Try to go to sleep and wake up at similar times each night and morning.

Years of night shifts started doing this to me. Tired as fook but still not getting a decent amount of kip was a cycle i couldn't break. Quit nights and eventually it got better for me. Get about 7 hours a night and that does me fine. A regular sleep pattern seems to be one answer.Well mine anyway
