Hi all,

I'm moving back to England on 12th October.

I'll be taking the plunge and moving in with the missus' into her gaff.

My question is basically about credit etc. For example, if I want to get a UK contract for a phone they are likely to ask for proof of my address, but all of the bills etc are likely to be in my gf's name so not sure how viable it will be.

What is the best way for me to overcome this?

Get added to the water bill, print off the current statement online? I assume you'll be added to Council Tax too, maybe (to keep everything legit?!)

In addition to the above, I've always had £1 debited and then credited back to prove my bank details as I've always gone for free handsets.

Yeah, the missus will lose her 25% discount but yeah, we'll have to do that. I suppose I'll just have to get added to various utility bills to solve my issue?

Thanks for that Si Pi.

Your card's billing address must be the same as your pay monthly contract billing address.

Annoyingly I can't change my address at the bank until I have prove of various utility bills so its a bit of a pain in the ass. Might have to get a pay as you go for a few months until I sort things out in England.

If you go on GiffGaff it’s pay as you go but you can get some cheap deals on bundles of minutes, texts and data

I've had problems getting a mobile contract as they ask for proof of address in UK for 3 years.

Got my son to get me one using his details and then changed the bank details to mine.

Really don't understand their paranoia - even a contract where you only want a SIM and not a phone they insist on the 3 years.

Had no problems getting bank account/overdraft/credit card etc so what makes fecking phone companies special
