Donal McDermott has signed also.

Our first McDermott since Neale. Forever grateful to Neale for scoring v Bristol City 82, when on loan from Fulham, in Iffy's season, as we went on to win a Friday night game.

That was probabaly the highlight of his career as it was a Sky game. He had a further short loan spell at Carlisle, but that was more or less it. Still only 32.

As Flitcroft has Rochdale connections is any one getting ever so slightly worried we could see the return of Calvin Andrew - I am!

If it's true, McDermott has turned down contract offers from (at least) Chesterfield and Rochdale to sign for us.

Chesterfield and Rochdale both withdrew contract offers for Donal after initially offering them and him not replying bu the deadline.

Could be a great signing if he keeps his mind on the job.

I know little about Harry Smith but he sounds a perfect big target man coming here to get some experience, and possibly more. He is 6 foot 5 so the sort of player we haven't had in a while, Michael Smith was close but he couldn't head a ball to save his life.

Obvious Flitcroft link with McDermott. Not stood out particularly in 2 halves of pre sesaon games. Hope this doesn't mean Hines gets elbow as for me he has looked far more involved and threatening

Even if DM signs, we need at least one more winger/utility forward so space for Hines too

Can't imagine that we'll not take any loans - it's one thing over-relying on them (as we've done before). I equally wouldn't be in favour of none. A few in amongst the foundation we're building would be great.

Hussey and Smith are both season long loans.

'Swindon and Exeter could be ready to go to battle over Hartlepool midfielder Nicky Featherstone.

The 28-year-old has a year left to run on his contract at Victoria Park, but the League Two clubs are hopeful of prising him away.

Featherstone, who began his career at Hull, played 46 times for Pools last season and was one of their better performers as they lost their Football League status.

He was linked with a move to Bury last January and is back on David Flitcroft's radar, this time at Swindon, while Paul Tisdale is also taking a look.'
