True, he was only responsible for shipping one or two goals in his time here, defensive rock"  The question is whether or not he will win our player of the season award.

DJ got some game time today in Charlton's loss.

But I don't think Smith has been of the bench has he? Bit of a waste, but I bet his hearing will be better off

He has had just the one 13 minute cameo, Batch. Charlton have some experienced options in there, hopefully he will get a regular run as it would be a shame if he can’t build on his first few break through months.

Thing is, those players (DJ & Smith) are both young and will be in a much better environment. Instead of a manager saying

"what the <expletive every other word>> you doing?"

They will see players ahead of them and that will give them an idea of what they need to do to break through. They'll see a management team with an idea or direction (maybe several ideas), in order to create a pathway towards success.

It's a fair transition for a player to sit on the bench when going to a bigger club, get a few minutes, maybe a half. Then take that game time onto the training ground when working on personal development, and so on. Until you're doing as much as the others or maybe something a little bit quicker than those ahead of you. Once selected, then you have your chance to hold that spot.

A hell of a lot of other factors at play of course but you can only focus on yourself and then hope that a few other things slip into line as well. Being in the right kind of place/environment initially is a great starting point.

He’s such a good footballer for that level, it’s a shame he’s an absolute liability.

I think he had a child fairly recently so is probably going to use that as his inspiration to stop being a fanny and start consistently doing what he is good at on the pitch.

As to how long that will last? I'm sceptical.
