Just missed an interview with Al Fayed about the Kiddie Fiddler statue outside Craven Cottage, but from the discussion afterwards it seems he basically said if Fulham fans don't like it they can sod off and support Chelsea.

He should be more careful of fans' karma - last bloke to do that here has just had his house repossessed (so I hear).

Wouldn't Al Fayed ask himself if the fans want a statue of Jackson outside their ground? WTF has he got to do with football? The majority of the fans would probably say Fuck Off. So if he really wants a statue of the wacko one, why not stick it in his back garden. Mind you, that Fayed appears almost as weird as Wacko was

They have, which is why he was (as far as I can gather) telling them to fuck off in return

To be fair, he originally ordered the statue to go outside Harrods but then he sold Harrods before the statue was completed. Would make a hell of a garden gnome, though!

He comissioned it to put it outside Harrods, but then sold Harrods to Qataris and had nowhere left to put.

Interestingly, the Council decided that the statue of Johnny Haynes needed to go through planning permission and yet this one doesn't. Honestly.

Who outside of Fulham's fanbase cares?

He took them from shite to becoming a Premier League mainstay - As a football fan that's all I'd look out for.

It's tacky and inappropriate but when he sells up, he'll probably take Jacko with him!

Personally, I find it an insult to the history of English football.

What I like about Fulham:
  • Lovely ground in a nice location

What I dislike about Fulham:
  • They bought their place in the Premiership
  • By rights, they should be scrapping it out in the lower leagues

That's about it.  If they do put a statue of Michael Jackson outside the ground, it will simply confirm to most that they're a Mickey Mouse club with too much cash and no taste.  No sympathy from me.

I'm sure Fulham fans were clutching on to that when Ian Brandfoot was in charge. A year before Mo' bought them, they finished 17th in Divvy 4.

They're a plastic club. Therefore, they are prone to do plastic things!

Well, that's more their chairman than the club. Which is precisely the grounds I think most of their fans are objecting to it on. That, and as BR says, the insult to history thing - Wacko Jacko alongside Jonny Haynes doesn't sit well with most of them.

I guess a comparison would be if Fitton gets us into the PL and then decides to rename the Arkells the Gary Glitter Stand. Embarrassing in itself but also an insult to the genuine legend similarly honoured

All true...but I'm just bitter.  I can't stand the fact that they effectively sidestepped the rules of the competition and got to where they are because they were given a massive financial leg up.  Wigan and Blackburn are just as bad.  When I started watching, Blackburn were our peers and the other two were nowhere.

Why is this thread putting up logins for the PA?

Costanza, did you accidentally leech an image?
