Eight badminton players thrown out of the tournament. Quite right too. Good to see a sporting body taking some decisive action.

Sort of agree about the badminton but is it much different to what the swimmers do? Is it any different to what the Japan ladies did in the football yesterday.

Think you need to be careful when ou start disqualifying teams for these type of things.

Its not the same at all. The badminton players were actively trying to lose, swimmers slow down to conserve energy.

But were they not also trying to give themselves the best chance to win the gold, which is what they are there for? It was very unsporting and can understand why paying spectators were a bit hacked off but don't think they are as outright villainous as people are making them out.

They also do it to try and ensure a better lane

The best lanes in the middle go to the faster swimmers as they are less effected by the waves created compared to outer lanes

That all depends on what the rules say. Maybe badminton/Olympics has a specific "try your best" clause which they clearly weren't.

That said, I thoroughly approved of STFC v Walsall last 15 minutes when we got promoted under Luggy.

Hearing that Wiggins is 5 seconds off the pace.  I'm not sure if this is serious or not.  And I wouldn't trust the commentators anyway after last Saturday's debacle where they were claiming until late on that the British riders were 'controlling the race perfectly' when, clearly, they weren't.
