Is anyone realistically expecting any of our regular starters to leave in January ? I may be thinking with my heart rather than my head but I don't expect us to lose any of our regulars. Think we may have a striker like Benson lined up but I don't see how we need another four or five players now that we have a near settled side who are on such a good run and with capable replacements in most positions.

If you think our key players will not be leaving then you are most definitely thinking with your head. As Davina alluded to, we are a totally different club now to the one we have become used to. Historically (like many clubs) we have been run by the local butcher, baker and candlestick maker without a pot to piss in and very little idea about running a football club as a business. Now we are being run by proper business men (who clearly care about the club and football in general) who have money and a clear idea of how the club should be run.

With that in mind, I am absolutely sure that the only players who do leave in the window will be the ones the club wants to leave.

If any of our current players are allowed to leave i would suggest the manager would probably follow them.....unless a mammoth offer comes in(which almost certainly wont happen) then none of our squad players will be going anywhere.

Swindon deals that look like they are going to happen....

Matt Ritchie to Burnley 700k + Add ons and sell on clause
Caddis sheffield utd - 450k
Magera released, Chibbocci released, returning to Italy
Lanzano released returning to italy
Esejas loan to chesterfield
Commazi released return to Italy
Clarke Millwall - 100k
Timlin - southend 50k
Bodin - Torquay season loan

Kerouche to Franchise 100k  Huh?
Connell to Burton in a swap for kee with town paying 300k
Hmmm
Benson 70k
Luke Rooney 200k
Wes Fodderingham - 150k
Murray - season loan
Jervis returning to Birmingham
Ridalgh - season loan

Constable - 200k
Sean Morrison - loan

Apart from the first 2 and the last 2 I'd take that
I would be surprised if the ones in bold type didn't happen although I've no idea where Clarke may end up.

Of the others, I would not be at all surprised to see the Magera, Cibocci and Esejas scenarios unfold as described.

The Kerouche and Connell/Kee ones are interesting and could conceivably happen. Could be pure fiction of course but 100k for Kerouche would be outstandingly good business but I am leaning towards that not happening and certainly not for 100k. PDC has indicated in the past that he wants a 'nasty' forward who knows this level and has even mentioned Kee by name. Connell is clearly a 'bloody nice bloke' but does not seem to have that nasty streak so who knows? I think Kee would be a good addition who could form a good partnership with Benson, with Murray coming off the bench.

First two and last two will not happen.

Oh yes, I missed Rooney. Could well happen. Don't know owt about him but from what I've read on here he sounds like he would be a decent addition.

Connell is a funny one....he pulled us out of the shite v Rotherham and looked the impact striker we needed.
He has missed some chances but being in and out of the team hasn't helped him,he isn't young at 28 but my feeling is its only half way through the season and he will play a part.
Has struggled to be fit for the 90 mins in matches which wont help his cause with Paolo

Yes, I should have added, apart from being a 'bloody nice bloke' he is not a bad player at all. Sometimes though it just doesn't work out for a player at a particular club. Maybe it will work out for him at Swindon in the long run, although I think the Kee swap deal would be a good one. Who knows? It will be an interesting January though.

Connell has never been a goalscorer at this level. he puts a shift in, but i won't cry if he gets moved on

Get the feeling Di Canio is losing faith with our non-British contingent. Wouldn't be surprised to see some of them depart in January in a similar way to Lanzano.

Didn't he get a one year deal with us last January? I guess when this loan is up his contract will be too.

I hope so. I wonder if it counts towards the salary cap? If it does then it's a total waste of money.

In this day, I'm very surprised that any side with a sub-6,000 average home attendance can afford to spend £½ million on one player.  Doesn't sound sustainable to me.
