Let's go back to the 80's abolish the under 23's stick with a youth team, reinstate the football combination league where you get reserve games almost every week against good opposition then whoever is in or out of form can swap accordingly
We don't have an under 23s, so nothing to abolish As a side note can I register my disgust that this thread has been hijacked and is now being used to discuss Scott Twine. It's like spitting on the memory of No1Fan when his account is still warm. Have you people no respect?

But the first XI was clearly the team that played City, so who do you drop from that as they all did well according to Wellens. Sounds like J Smith is the one knocking on the door from what Wellens said on TTOT. Twine isn’t a new player, he’s a known quantity and in the 5 years since his debut Twine has done the square root of fuck all, he needs to go somewhere on loan and get a run of games to see if he can cut it and I can’t see him getting that here.
I haven’t suggested we drop anyone for Twine. You’ve taken the point to the extreme. I think a lot of us, like you still do - thought Twine was done here. He might well have been if it wasn’t for the amount of attacking players we lost. Either way but all accounts he’s had a decent pre-season. That should at least make Wellens think twice about him, maybe a place in the squad. Maybe a start on the cup games we aren’t taking as seriously as the league. No one is suggesting we give him the #9 shirt and build the entire team around him are they? Just that he may have done enough in pre-season to give Wellens something to think about.

I have seen people on Twitter suggesting he’s technically the best player at the club so some people have gone overboard about him yeah...

More, Twine based "fan song" porn*...
To the tune of Scarborough Fair aka Swindon Town
## ...Are you coming to watch Swindon Town? Doughty, Smith, Rose**, Conroy and Twine. Please remind me - which Smiths do play where? Town sure are a true love of mine...##
## ...Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme Remember me - to one who lives there She once was a true love of mine...##
*This is up for debate, do discuss. **STC

Take that up with them on Twitter then. Rather than strongly disagreeing with someone’s opinion on Twitter in the relevant TEF thread were people don’t hold the over the top opinion you are disagreeing with. I have seen people on Twitter suggesting the earth is flat & this corona virus is a hoax. Which isn’t really relevant to any earth or corona related discussion on his forum, if no one this site has the same opinion as ‘someone on Twitter’

Only way a Swindon player is likely to get past the first round of a cup competition anyway! Fair play to him.

And seems to have started his loan period well generally, getting rave reviews from the locals https://twitter.com/CymruOlly/status/1305954786299326471

Yep, lad can only keep on keeping on. This is his real apprenticeship and it seems he's making sure it counts when it matters.
Talking of Twine based songs, if he did make a return and happened to score then we should use the Kiwi tune by Dave Dobbyn & The Herbs - Slice of Heaven. Instead of singing "slice of heaven" we should sing "splice of heaven".
Plus it's a fuckin awesome tune, especially for sports. Quite relevant lyrics for the boy Scott too. Maybe something like this...
"Her love shines over my horizon, she's a slice of heaven (slice of heaven). Warm moonlight over my horizon, she's a slice of heaven..."
change to
"Our love shines over his horizon, Twine's a splice of heaven (splice of heaven). We'll moonrake over your horizon, Twine's a splice of heaven..."

That was some goal. He’s scored a very similar goal for us during the friendlies this year.
