Gills have done good business.
The rest, meh. Like Doncaster have signed a few players but would we genuinely want any of them here?

Ironside is a good target man and Wood is a very experienced CB, even if he is 37, Lawler is a decent experienced keeper too. The rest are a bit meh, but you could say that about Brewitt, Cain, Aguiar and Shade last season.

So we're below average on that, but not a huge outlier like Morecambe.
Morecambe have a first team squad of 13 not including 1st/2nd year pros like Dworzak, Copland, Brann and Kanu who are included in the Swindon numbers.

Admittedly Morecambe are in financial trouble currently and struggling to sign players and had to offload many high wages in the Summer. Salford now have 16 players and 11 1st/2nd year pros so they should be at 27 if you have included Dworzak etc.

Kanu isn't a pro (or at least, if he's signed a pro deal it's not been announced, and he's still of an age to be a second year scholar), and isn't included in the 20.

As I said, I just took the first team squad lists from Wikipedia, which generally goes on whether someone has an announced pro deal or not. There probably are inaccuracies in there, but I'm not deliberately manipulating the numbers.

Not really sure that Salford/Morecambe are the point here anyway - DV is suggesting we have a more "complete" squad than the average side. These numbers at least would suggest that's not true - we're definitely ahead of both Salford and Morecambe, but not ahead of the average side - only those two, Crawley and Colchester have fewer (and indeed, Grimsby and Wrexham have almost as many players as we had at any one point during last season already)

Sorry it wasnt meant that you were just that often the names on Wiki arent always quite right.

Also many players are being signed daily, I do think that our squad is not where it should be and many sides have made some good signings already, us not being one of them.

About his level. Some of our fanbase practically wanted to retire his squad number when he left. Extremely limited defensively.

there were 9 last year, so is the answer 12-14?

Yep, we also lost our best player (stats wise at least)

Still not sure they were that much better than us last year. 2 very poor managers managed this squad

I still think it's not a very good squad- some OK players, but a poorly constructed squad of meh.  Lindsey probably got more points than performances deserved, Morris a little the other way around, both were poor as well.

The good starting point this season is we at least have our fringe and potential development players in place.  All we need are the five or six first team regulars we were missing last season, for the entire season, plus we potentially have a pragmatist in charge.

some merit in that.

personal opinion, we are short on quality and know how.

but in any case I doubt that will be the squad we go with!

Yep, we’ll be better just for having Flynn in charge.

Just remember if you exclude the games Lindsey & Morris were in charge for - we would have finished on 107 points.
