I can’t believe I typed all that out didn’t think to even mention Peterborough who are a good example of this.

I suspect (as usual based on nothing at all) that they might be the blueprint we are looking to follow. I think our ceiling potential wise might be bigger than them although I know they are also looking to build a new stadium/expand London Road so are looking to get to the next level.

They won't need anymore than a 10,000 capacity😀

They do, because they get 5,000 away fans

Promotion wasn’t even mentioned by Sandra in that chat with Shawn.
.
yes I did notice that. A lot was made of developing players and 'showcasing" them (in order to drive sales and maintain sustainability.

as the man says

I possess a proven track record in unearthing cost-effective playing talent, who have progressed to add value to team performance and can generate significant transfer revenue in future sales, highly accomplished in scouting and analysis.
But showcasing in league 1 must surely bring more money than in the basement. we won't lose site of that

We simply must get out of this woeful shitty league.
It’s shite and depressing.

Let’s be honest. L1 is more of the same isn’t it?

completely disagree with that.

league 1 next season has a much better geographical scattering, a few bigger teams and is much closer to the promised land

(championship is the new prem)

League 1 this season would have offered vociferous local games with Oxford, Pompey, Rovers etc as well as bigger clubs like Derby and Sheffield Wednesday. The vast majority of clubs also allow for bigger away capacities.

League 2 just doesn't really offer anything to whet the appetite other than easier matches (on paper)

Apart from Derby all teams we’ve played recently and frequently

Not as recently as the league 2 sides.

Well, yes. But it would be nice, and expected, to at least mention that promotion might just be a byproduct.

Seems to me we’re looking to be a slightly upgraded Crewe - get a good crop, get promoted, then sell them off, get relegated and then wait a few years to start the cycle again.

Fuck that.
Same I don’t fancy that, there’s a balance between developing players and wanting to be successful and win matches. Under Luke Williams we saw what it was like for results to play second fiddle, we basically refused to sign anyone over a certain age with experience and the inevitable result happened. You can’t just fill a team with 5 loan players and 5 or 6 development players and expect to be successful. You need a spine of hardened pro’s and the development players supplement that, just look how the experience of Baudry improved us when it mattered.

It’s ok saying the aim is to make money selling players but that’s not a guarantee and the majority of the income at STFC comes from supporters and ticket sales so they need to keep the fans onside.

I would blame Power & Sherwood for recruitment when Williams was in charge

The recruitment was shit but it was the same principle, only sign players with development potential and not experienced pro’s. Also taking groups of loanees from one club like we did with Chelsea.
