Being out of contract at the end of the season and having suffered with injury probably held some clubs back. Still a great bit of business for Southampton though, 4m is bugger all really.

17 goals with relegated QPR, had little injury worries recently (was out at start of transfer window -a little suspicious) and a blind man could see how he could score for anyone. Typical shit scouting by foreign obsessed scouts.

A free header. Harder to miss than score.

He had to be in the right position to bury it though. He always seems to be there, very Lineker like. Could be the Euro's version of Toto Schillaci if Roy took a gamble on him.

A striker in the box. Never.

He would never get a start ahead of Kane and Rooney, rightly with regard to Kane, debatable with regard to Rooney

If only I knew it was that easy to score when I was playing. Just stand in the box and that's it eh? Truly wonderful insight into the game that is. Cheers.

You can coach technique, but you can't coach a strikers instinct, something Austin has in spades.

You are missing the point. Any striker with a free header should score.

If Rickie Lambert can make it as a 'wild card' option then there's no reason why Charlie Austin can't.

At least in Kane, Alli, Austin and Vardy we have some decent young(ish) talent coming through in this country. Should all be in the Euros squad.

Alfie Masson scored for Barnsley today. Which means we *would* have won 2-1 today if power wasn't such a Scrooge

A free header. Harder to miss than score.

Look at the movement though. Wasn't free until half a second before he needed to be.
