The herring challenge was apparently horrendous. The lad he tackled needs his knee totally rebuilt.
I heard it was 50/50 and Dean came off worse. And that's from a Chippenham player as well.

On that note, Oakley is on a really poor run of form at Chip at the moment. Not looking good for him

I'll take your word for it. The lads knee is fucked regardless.

Occupational hazard. Sometimes the injuries are intentional (Roy Keane anyone? And I'm still convinced Stephen Hunt did Petr Cech intentionally), sometimes it isn't.

Yeah his leg was a state. He's a good lad Rob, grew up in the same area as me and went to the same school, I know Nemo knows him well also. Talented boy, could possibly go higher than Chippenham I think. I hope he can recover quickly.

The majority of the time the accidental injuries are the ones that end careers, while the ones that are intentional tend to be less serious, I agree that Stephen Hunt did Cech intentionally.

Well, the article is clearly extracts from a much longer piece so that may just reflect what whoever put the article together found most interesting rather than McCloughlin's own views of the relative importance of each phase of his career

Met him a few times when he was at Town, a genuinely nice humble guy.

Don't believe all you read or that what you read is the whole story. He likes Swindon as a town and a club even if it doesn't comer over in that interview. As Chalky says he is a nice humble down to earth bloke makes time for everyone to speak to him.

There is a link to an audio of him talking about scoring the winning goal he scored at Wembley, which may have more about his time at Swindon.
