Connell- 11 goals in 32 appearances for The Town according to Wikipedia.

This seasons numbers for Town strikers and our main threat-

Williams-4 goals in 22 appearances (BBC)

Collins- 8 goals in 24 appearances (BBC)

Storey- 3 goals in 8 appearances (BBC)

Ritchie- 7 goals in 25 appearances (BBC)

Matt Ritchie, currently second top scorer for us.

I'd have quite happily given Alan a run in the squad this season.
Connell has 4 goals in 16 appearances for Bradford this season.
Regardless of what Connell done last season, he isn't good enough for a club at the top end of league 1.

Alan Connell is now 29 and has spent most of his career in L2 and below. There is a reason for this.

He's a bench warmer at Bradford. Would have been the same her at the most. What our current forwards are doing is irrelevant

Sense.

All of which is probably true. However would he have scored more goals than our current crop given the same amount of game time?

Quite likely in my opinion. This will remain my opinion too as it cannot be proved otherwise. :-)

2 different managers over a season and half haven’t been convinced he is worthy of being a first choice striker for a league 2 team, that’s a pretty damming assessment.

Whilst one of those managers keeps playing strikers that are not scoring goals and continues to play a mifielder that is struggling Hmmm

In League 2 Connell was a good impact sub for us, he was never good enough to be a regular starter. How many times did he fluff easy chances last year?!
Nowhere near good enough to be near this squad this year.

He probably isn’t a fan of the 4-6-0 formation or 4-5-1(Storey)
